We have just arrived back from a very enjoyable long weekend at the Centauro Hotel. We travelled by water transport to Rialto, just a 5-6 minute walk from the Centauro which we located with no problem. The staff were very welcoming on arrival and friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was very clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast,...

My room had capacity for 3 people which was perfect for my friends. It was very close to Rialto bridge (5min walking) but it was slightly away from the major flow of traffic of tourists which was nice. It's basic and I think a bit overpriced because my other friends stayed at Hotel Canada for similar rooms and they paid...

Spectacular discovery of a pearl in the oyster. Beautiful, quaint, friendly, personal, with fantastic people. Location is 5-10 minutes to everything and has the greatness without the hassle of a big concern. I would tell everyone who's to visit Venice, this is the way to go Kurt

A perfect location to explore Venezia from. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly, the breakfast is basic and the rooms are more than comforting enough. For a hotel at this location, for this money it is just perfect. And of course, evrything is old as it is an old building but that just has its charm. Furthermore people...

Very lousy hotel. The building was very old, the mattress and pillow was too soft (i got stiff neck on the next day morning), bath room's water pressure very low and water temperature is not hot. We need to leave the room key at the reception counter every times before we going out. Just simply tell the staff the room...

Dear customer, we are sorry that the hotel did not meet your expectations. We remind you and to all our customers who, for any type of request, just ask the concierge which is open 24 hours (ask for an extra pillow for example ...). The building is an old building like all of Venice is, as it is a historic...

The Centauro is in a fantastic location in Venice close to St Marks Square and Rialto Bridge. The reception staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly and spoke good English, though there is no reason they should have to. The room was tastefully decorated to a high standard and was spotlessly clean as was the ensuite which had nice powerful shower....

The hotel was difficult to find (more information could easily be given) but worth the effort. My single room and its bathroom were small but adequate and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful and although breakfast officially begins at 8 am I was able to have coffee (indifferent) and a croissant at 7.30 in a corner of what must...

The hotel's location cannot be faulted - it was a little tricky to find but I think that is part of the charm of Venice! The single room was possibly a bit too small with hindsight but that is pointed out on various websites. It was very clean, which is the main thing, and functional, the bathroom was fine although...

Me and a friend visited for a night, was a great hotel. Very friendly staff, comfortable beds and clean room. Breakfast also included in the price which was also great for the price. Great view from the breakfast hall balcony. I would definitely go back !

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
