Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

This hotel is in a good location, easily walkable to most places. We were there on business but the receptionist was so friendly and helpful about restaurant suggestions that we almost forgot that we weren't on holiday. The room was cosy and comfortable with extra pillows and

The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, is comfortable, clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. It’s a quaint area to be in and to explore Venice from. We would be happy to stay here again. Breakfast could perhaps do with improvement, but given it’s so close to excellent cafe’s

This hotel was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. There was mold in the bathroom and all over the shower and shower curtain. When we complained about the mold the staff told us that " mold is a natural occurrence" Can you believe that!!!!! Mold kills people. They

Very disappointing stay I booked one of the appartments. I assumed that as the confirmation was for one double bed and two singles there would be two bedrooms for me and the couple I was travelling with. This was not the case. It is unclear to me even now which bed was the

I'm not sure how much you are wishing to pay or when you wish to go but the next time I'm visiting Venice I'm staying elsewhere. I'm going to Venice for the carnival again but staying westin Europa and regina near st marks sq and changed dates avoiding weekends to save a good bit of money. The last time I checked the price they wanted £1200. There's a deal on a main travel site with 100 % saving on flights on westin Europa for Feb 18 but worth checking for other times too. Check out deals for above hotel online - it's not a bad hotel but you'd be surprised what you can get for your money in deals. I know you hear different noises in a hotel but I did return from an event late and could clearly hear events taking place from an upstairs room.

Sorry for the late reply and hope this helps. What I did was take the no 5 bus right outside the marco polo airport entrance to Piazza roma and then take the vaperetto to s toma stop. The vaperetto stop is near the bridge - once arrived at piazza roma go left not right. It's five mins from s toma stop. Once you get off the stop turn left, walk past one bridge take the second to cross that then turn right then you can see the sign for the hotel. I did pre buy the airport bus and vaperetto tickets which is no more than 15 euros combined. There is a desk to swap your e receipt for them at the airport before getting on the bus.

"Review is based on room 103"
"As far as I could see all rooms opened up to a narrow alleyway, so close window to avoid snatches of conversation from passers by below."
"there are no good rooms"
"There are stairs; no elevator. So ask for the first floor."
