Overall we loved this hotel. If we visited Venice again we would definitely look at staying here again. When we arrived to the terminal we took the 1 line ferry to the giglio stop (which is approximately 10 stops) for only 15euros total. The hotel is like a 2min walk from where the ferry drops you off. There are several...

I traveled with 3 other people (4 in total)- 2 slept on sofas, which wasn't bad, but was not described in the original booking/ confirmation. There is free wifi, but every night you need to get a new password from the front desk. The location is perfect, you are within walking distance to San Marco square and the water taxis...

Two nights in Venice was the perfect end to our Grand Tour of Italy to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary and the Palazzo del Giglio was the perfect place for our stay. We chose the hotel for it’s location close to both St. Mark’s square and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. What a pleasant surprise to find the hotel is just...

I don't know how I came to find this hotel ...but I'm so glad I did! From the cute little campo its on, the friendly helpful staff, the huge airy well appointed suite to the tasty breakfast......a real peaceful gem in this busy city. The location is perfect for navigating all the main sites, minutes from San Marco etc......but just...

I stayed her with my mother and daughter last week. It was fantastic! It is like having your own apartment in Venice! The rooms are immaculate and have the essentials. We had a complementary bowl of fruit and a terrace that was the perfect setting for Venice. I would certainly stay here again. Thank you Palazzo del Giglio! - Melissa...

The location was great near the vaporetto giglio. But when we entered the room it was smelling cigar all over the place. The bed sheets also was smelling bad. To complete the bathroom did not have a whole cabinet so after bathing the ground was totally wet! Very expensive for what you get! I recomend you choose better.

What a lovely hotel close to St Mark's Square. Hotel Palazzo Del Giglio is set behind the Gritti Palace overlooking a campo with a church, restaurant and various little stalls. We had a beautiful suite which overlooked the lovely square. Our suite had all that we could require for our stay in Venice, a wonderful king size bed which was...

This hotel couldn't be more perfect for us with regards to the location. We travelled from the airport to the hotel via a water bus and then walked the last 5 minutes from St Mark's square. The staff were very friendly and also very helpful when we asked about suggestions on where to eat etc. even provided us with an...

This hotel is wonderful. The beds are king-size, the duvets are marshmallow-soft, the location is a minute from the vaporetto terminal and ten minutes from St Mark's Square, the breakfast is copious and comes with five kinds of splendid tart and unbounded coffee, the service is perfect - the staff at reception recognised us and gave us our key without...

We came to Venice on a last minute stay. Our original plans were to leave from Paris and go to Amsterdam and then down through Italy, but not Venice. Due to the attacks we canceled Amsterdam and took a night train to Venice and book this hotel the day before we got there. They were all very accommodating! Our room...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
