The Galleria is right by the Accademia bridge. My room looked right onto the Grand Canal, and my friend's looked onto the bridge and part of the canal. The rooms were reasonably sized, and the staff were friendly. No A/C, so might be warm in August, and it can be noisy with the windown open. I would definitey stay here...

Stayed in Room 10 for 3 nights with my wife. The hotel has a great location on the Grand Canal and next to the Accedemia Bridge. Things we liked: Size of the room, antique furniture, shutters that kept noise and light out, and the complimentary cold drinks. Things we did not like: The bed was very uncomfortable, the room /...

Great location just next to Vaporetto stop on the Canal Grande and right next to the Accademia bridge which leads to easy excess across the Canal Grande. My girlfriend and I spend 3 days and 2 nights in Venice and I was recommended the hotel from another hotel I tried to book initially and I was very happy with the...

Great Location. Although we only stayed one night. I was impressed that the pop and bottled water was free for guests as I had spent quiet a few euros on both on our trip. The breakfast was room service. The only negative is that I had requested a triple room and when I arrived i was charged more and the...

Stayed in the room with the crescent window overlooking the Grand Canal. Room was comfortable, clean. Staff was helpful and friendly. Highly recommend because.. 1) View of the Grand Canal and Accademia Bridge while having breakfast in front of the window watching vaporetti, gondolas and service boats skim across the canal as children skip across the bridge with their backpacks an...

We had a VERY late (3 AM) check-in at the Hotel Galleria, which the owners were very kind to oblige. Our room was pretty clean, but the furniture was fairly old, and one of the mirrors was so damaged from being exposed to moisture in the bathroom that it was unusable - we had to use the one near our...

We had room 10, wonderful views through two windows!! Nice people! I really wanted to love this hotel. This was the hotel that I was so looking forward to, but… I don’t know if this is normal for Venice, since this was our first time there, but there was a floor drain in the bathroom that reeked!!! And it wasn’t...

dear madam, we are very sorry to read your review and actually not happy too because we find that this review is not reliable and need to be cleared out. First of all, Venice is a city build in the water (not on the water) and it's effected by the tides, in some periods of the year we have very...

We really liked Hotel Galleria. Although it is on the opposite side of the Grand Canal from where we spent most of our time, there is a bridge right in front of hotel and so it was very easy to walk to and from the hotel. This also makes it very easy to find when you first arrive (can walk...

This review is very late but I have to write about what a lovely time we had at the Hotel Galleria in Venice. I chose Hotel Galleria after lots and lots of time reading reviews on Trip Advisor. We asked for and received Room 8, which had a lovely arched window that overlooked the Grand Canal. Every morning we sat...

Wow, the Hotel Galleria has it all. It is EASY to find, the views are AMAZING (right on the Grand Canal, under the Accademia Bridge!!), 10 min to St. Marks Square and Rialto bridge, there is a Vaporetto stop 30m from the front door! I would (and have already) recommended this place to anyone considering a trip to Venice. You...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
