The hotel is in good condition. Triple room was small for 3 people but clean. Bathroom was nice and clearly remodeled. Nice shower. Location is great. Very close to St. Mark's Square and water transportation.

We have rented both a hotel room and an apartment. Both of them were great. The apartment was very spacious, clean, in the building next to the hotel. The hotel room was a bit small, but very nice furniture, well maintained. Most of all the hotel is 2 blocks from San Marco, nevertheless very quiet (hard to believe but true)....

I made a reservation on line to stay at this hotel. When I arrived, after searching for 20 minutes to find the hotel, off the path, the door was locked...first clue. Next, i signed the form and gave my passport for copying. The clerk said we had been "upgraded" to an apartment. Next clue. The apartment was across the alley,...

torto13, Responsabile reception at Hotel Campiello, responded to this review

We would only clarify some points as follows: the entrance of the hotel is always locked to ensure control over who enters and exits, and to enter it is usual to ring the bell and a concierge available 24 hours will open the door. The apartment in question is located in the same small square where is located the Hotel,...

We have stayed here twice now. The first time was 3 years ago, when this hotel was an accidental find. We were impressed by the convenient location and closeness to the vaparetto stop at San Zacaria and San Marco Square. This made it an easy choice to rebook the same hotel this time. We travelled with 4 adult children and 2...

We chose Hotel Campiello based on others' reviews on Trip Advisor and they were fairly accurate. It's near all the touristy areas of Venezia, especially Piazza San Marco and the main water bus station No. 1 and 2. We got ripped off at main parking garage on the mainland because they called a water taxi for 80 Euro rather than...

This hotel is so convenient that it's surprisingly good value. Breakfast was good, if a little sparse, staff very friendly and helpful. Our room looked nothing like the ones in the website photos but still, it was clean and comfortable and we loved the Venetian glass chandeliers. We'd stay there again.

This hotel has a lot going for it, but location is a major plus. Located in a small alley, down from the Hotel Danielli, it is literally around the corner from St. Mark's Piazza AND an easy short walk from the Zaccharia vaporetto stop. The latter is also a major plus: one doesn't have far to go with your luggage...

We stayed at Hotel Campiello for 2 nights. After reading the reviews we made sure to make note of how to get to the hotel. It is in a little alley that can be easily overlooked but as long as you figure out ahead of time where you’re going it’s easy to find. The hotel is in a great location...

This hotel is a very short walk from Piazza San Marco and even closer to the vaporetto stop. Both the hotel and the hotel personnel were outstanding. An excellent value.

Just returned from 3 day trip to Venice over Carnival. Stayed at the Hotel Campiello in a quadruple room - they put us in an aprtment which was fabulous. Amazing newly refurbished with lovely huge bathroom with both bath and shower. Staff were all friendly and helpful and spoke good English. Breakfast buffet was good, usual cheese and ham plus...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
