A small hotel located in a quiet street just 5 minutes walk from St. Mark's Square makes it the perfect place to see the sights of Venice. Also near to a vaparetto stop - San Zaccaria, which we caught from Piazzale Roma ( next to the bus station ) Transport is so easy on the vaparetto. But also, you can...

Easy to find - no dragging luggage over bridges. All you could want from a hotel except a view. Excellent accomodations. Great staff. Just steps from San Marcos Square and transportation stop.

This hotel was perfectly located a few minutes from the Vaporetto stop. We had no trouble finding it at all and loved the fact that we didn't have to carry our luggage up and down stairs. The staff was wonderful and friendly and even let us check in early. They arranged a private water taxi to take us to the...

Hotel Campiello is a very convenient, affordable hotel very close to St Marks Square. it is a short 2-3 min walk from the Ferry stop, so very convenient if you have luggage. The big shopping area near St marks square is also very close by. the hotel is pretty small.. the entrance to our room was actually from outside the...

Our family of 5 stayed here in August 2010. We found this to be a slightly dated, but clean and comfortable property. The location is excellent, within 5 minute walk to St Mark's Square. That made it very convenient to visit the square early in the morning before it got too busy. Contrary to other posts here, we located the...

We were in this hotel for 2 nights and absolutely loved it! The location is great with the water buses near by (which we came in from airport and the street was straight across from the stop) The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was also lovely. Our room was the perfect size for what we were looking...

The best part about the hotel is the amazing locations, only a few mins walk from the Zaccharia vaporetto stop and 5-10 mins walk to San Marco square. The rooms are also clean and comfortable and the reception staff is also polite. It was slightly difficult finding the hotel (google map printouts won't help) but if you ask around in...

We have rented both a hotel room and an apartment. Both of them were great. The apartment was very spacious, clean, in the building next to the hotel. The hotel room was a bit small, but very nice furniture, well maintained. Most of all the hotel is 2 blocks from San Marco, nevertheless very quiet (hard to believe but true)....

I made a reservation on line to stay at this hotel. When I arrived, after searching for 20 minutes to find the hotel, off the path, the door was locked...first clue. Next, i signed the form and gave my passport for copying. The clerk said we had been "upgraded" to an apartment. Next clue. The apartment was across the alley,...

torto13, Responsabile reception at Hotel Campiello, responded to this review

We would only clarify some points as follows: the entrance of the hotel is always locked to ensure control over who enters and exits, and to enter it is usual to ring the bell and a concierge available 24 hours will open the door. The apartment in question is located in the same small square where is located the Hotel,...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
