The Hotel Bucintoro was the perfect location for our Venice honeymoon. We could see the hotel when we got off the ferry (and this is very important when you are carrying luggage!) AND it was close to Piazza San Marco! The room was absolutely beautiful; the staff was extremely friendly and helpful; and the included breakfast was as delicious as...

Stayed here for three nights in October 08, and were pretty happy with it apart from one gripe, see below. The location is pretty good, it is not absolutely central, but for that in Venice you really need to splash out. It is about 10 minutes walk to St. Mark's square, buit more importantly it is right beside the Arsinale...

Stayed at the Bucintoro with a family of five: two adults, three teenagers. The hotel is a small boutique hotel right on the canal but in a quiet part of town. It is close enough to the sights but in the morning having a coffee outside overlooking the magnificent boats it is surprisingly calm and quiet. The rooms are small...

We stayed here after much research on Trip Advisor. Couldn't beliveve my eyes and the reviews. It lives up to both. Location on the Lagoon(fantastic vista), 10 min leisurely stroll to San Marco(away from the hordes) , right beside a shuttle stop so no lugging bags over numerous bridges. Rooms are immaculately clean & well presented , free internet access...

We got to the hotel from the airport after spending 95 Euros on the water taxi. And the hotel had to look for our booking for 40min and then they told us that there was a problem with the booking and that they had over booked. Then tried to find some other hotels for us without accepting to pay for...

The Hotel Bucintoro has lived up to all the reviews that we have read. The hotel is ideally placed, close to the main attractions but just far enough away to be peaceful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Andrea was always on hand to offer his expert knowledge of Venice, giving us lots of ideas for places that locals...

This is my 3rd trip to Venice and for the first time I have felt like home rather than one in a million tourists. Since the beggining over the phone the amazing Andrea at the concierge convinced me that I had made a good choice. He was a "real Venician" very proud of his marvellous city and he told us...

. . . what more could you want? I fell in love with Venice many years ago yet returning each time I struggled to find a hotel which matched its style and magnificence. The last two trips (and all the future ones) I was fortunate to stay at Hotel Bucintoro. This is my idea of heaven. High speed taxi from...

We had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Bucintoro post cruise. We were apprehensive about our choice of location - only to find out it was the BEST spot in Venice - easy to get to. We took the Water Bus to Arsenale and only had to wheel our suitcase over one bridge/canal to arrive at the hotel. After...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
