This was a wonderfully clean and authentic Venice hotel. They placed us in the annex building and we very much enjoyed our room. We had a private bathroom - which we were pleased. Breakfast was just ok but we were so close to wonderful eateries it was not an issue at all. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel....

Stayed for 4 nights in Sept 2016 as a couple. Room was fine and what we expected. Our room was very loud and we were woken by the cleaners going about their work every morning at 8am- not a massive problem for us but some people may not like this. The walls are also paper thin but the hotel was...

We paid 102 Euros for 1 night at this hotel, which is cheap compared to what the other hotels in Venice charge, given the location. The breakfast was good, however, the lady at the counter was the most helpful we encountered in Europe. She told us exactly where to eat, and gave us tips on getting to the airport. We...

This hotel is very basic but great value. It's located down a little side street, but is about a 10 minute walk from all the key sights in Venice and located very close to the Cal D'ore waterbus stop. The hotel is very quaint and old fashioned but absolutely charming. The lady on the reception was incredibly friendly and welcoming...

We found this hotel to be just fine! It was located down a typical Venetian back street but very close to the bustling main street of Strada Nova. We stayed in the Annex which certainly had a homely feeling (I think the owners live upstairs!) and had a canal view if you stuck your head out of the window! The...

In Venice, which can be a very expensive city for accommodation, this hotel offers good quality for a reasonable price. Our triple room was clean and spacious enough, with nice looking antique-style furniture (although bedspread could be freshened up a bit). The location is fabulous - just far enough away from the tourist crush but close enough to be walkable...

Hotel is down a little side street very close to the font Nove and rialto Ali laguna stops. St Marks square is only 10 minutes away and there are lots of lovely places to eat nearby. The rooms are good, shower in room 26 was a little small though! Breakfast is fine, nothing special. You'd be better getting something from...

This hotel is situated in a very nice location. Minutes from the Vaporetto station and the Rialto bridge. Also within walking to the Santa Lucia train station. The hotel rooms are kinda small. The decor is nice but needs to be updated with a cleaner look. The Wifi is a letdown at this hotel. The signals are not strong enough...

Very helpful staff. Great location for walking almost everywhere. Near the train station and vaporetti. In a somewhat quieter location than in the middle of the big attractions, but not that far away. Breakfast extra. Great value for the money.

My fiancé and I stayed here for a few nights prior to our wedding in Venice. This was my second time at Bernardi, the first one being back in 2012. Pleased to see that everything that made my stay enjoyable the first time is still occurring. My fiancé and I splurged on a decadent hotel for our wedding night, but...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
