Fortunately, we booked this hotel as it sounded cozy.. To say it was fantastic is selling it short. We had a mini suite with a great view of the garden below. The room was large in size, great air conditioning, unbelievely large bathrooms, great furnishings, and IMPECCABLY CLEAN... The service was outstanding, breakfast was more the normal..... We travel all...

Very accessible from both Zattere and Accademia vaporetto stops. As has been said the staff could not be more helpful and friendly. We have stayed here several years and appreciate the clean and comfortable rooms. One recent reviewer commented on the Breakfast, which while not a "full English" is more than sufficient for us and there is always the option...

We stayed several days in the Hotel Agli Alboretti and loved it. The room was small but tidy and overlooked the street. For those toting large bags, the location is just short flat walk between the Zattere and Accademia vaporetto stops. The staff were very freindly, helpful and conscientious. Who could ask for more?

It's a very nice place, firendly staff. and good room with space. The hotel is close to a vaporetto station and close to a bridge to cross to te other side. The only thing is that the breakfast it's not enough, a very simple breakfast.

Trip was in late April 2014. Although the room was overlooking a main street, noise was not an issue. The room was very tidy, equipped with a kettle. Located near two vaporetto stops, the hotel is easily accessible and there are good restaurants nearby - ask at the front counter for suggestions and recommendations. Hotel staff were exceptionally supportive, especially...

Stayed at the Agli Alboretti with several friends in June 2014. We loved the hotel, the staff were really helpful and everything was above expectations, particularly room amenities and choice at breakfast. Great position, between two vaporetto stops, both on the flat, without bridges, lots of restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Would recommend to anyone. The position near the...

I was in Venice for a family wedding and this was a perfect hotel for me, clean and with just the facilities I needed but no more. Very convenient position for vaporetto to anywhere. I had a nice view down the street, past the church to the lagoon. I would certainly choose to stay here again.

This was a hostel in the loosest sense of the word, and as the name implies is more of a hotel. It seemed to be undergoing some modernization while we were there. I assume that once it is fully upgraded they intend to drop the ability to book through hostel sites, but for now it was a good deal. The...

I stayed here on May 6th and 7th of 2014. First off, the front desk staff is excellent! The rooms facing the street do get the street noise but everything quiets down by 11:00 and you'll get to here the church bells ringing in the morning. It is a lovely 10 - 15 minute stroll to Piazza San Marco and...

Loved this little hotel! Great staff who gave us terrific dining recommendations. Yes, small room, but perfectly comfortable--space is a premium in Venice. Quiet location, near the Peggy Guggenheim (which is a must see) and not in the middle of all the tourist-y stuff. Close to the vaporetto and wonderful dining spots. We will stay here again if we are...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated in the elegant "Sestiere" (neighbourhood) Dorsoduro Agli Alboretti is a fine family three star hotel meticulously run by Mrs. Anna Linguerri, helped by a dedicated staff, some of whom have been working here for many years. Enjoy the quiet, relaxing atmosphere of an ancient Venetian house, placed in a strategic position to visit the most interesting sites of Venice. The hotel is in front of the Accademia Galleries, very few minutes from Guggenheim Collection, St. Mark’s Square and Rialto bridge. It is near public transports for the City, the airport and the islands (Murano, Burano, Torcello) and therefore easily reachable also from Piazzale Roma (car and bus terminal) and railway station. All the 23 rooms at disposal are furnished in 19th century or navy style and have been recently redecorated. They are fitted with private services, satellite TV, wireless Internet connection, mini bar and air conditioning in Summer. They overlook either the large street Rio Terà Foscarini or some private inner gardens among which the courtyard of the hotel where, in Summer, breakfast is served. A lift makes easy to reach the four floors of the building and the terrace on top where guests can sit and relax. The curious name "Agli Alboretti" comes from the "small trees" that were planted along the street Rio Terrà Foscarini at the end of 19th century when the canal was filled in and transformed into a street. Venetians are not accustomed to have trees along the "calli" and they started to call it "the street of the small trees." ... more   less
