Our family stayed in two rooms at this charming hotel. Location is excellent - close to San Marco square and the Rialto bridge. Staff was very friendly and spoke good English. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, albeit a little small. Quiet street; we felt very safe walking in the area late at night. We enjoyed breakfast each morning. No...

Perfect location mid-way between San Marco Square & Rialto Bridge, both of which are a short easy walk away. The staff were so friendly, helpful & welcoming. The hotel is small & charming. Rooms are upstairs (no elevators) & are spotlessly clean & tidy. Plenty of hot water, free WiFi & very small TV, mostly Italian + CNN & BBC...

I feel like cutting and pasting the review by AprileM2015. I have awarded it top stars, because the balance of facilities, location etc. is excellent and I think the overall rating deserves it. The staff were absolutely excellent. Knowledgeable, charming, with-it, the best. The location is very good. The number 2 ship comes directly to their stop, Rialto, and it...

Great location, great service, small room and bathroom but it's all you need and clean, breakfast was nice, rooms are quiet, AC, the only negative was the lack of pressure in the shower on the top floor.

Clean rooms, very small but served our needs just fine with comfortable beds. Staff was very friendly, very helpful and spoke good English. Location is great, between Rialto bridge and San Marco plaza. Quiet street, secure building. My son and I always felt safe walking to/from during day and night. Breakfast was good and filled us up, the usual Italian...

The atmosphere in this hotel is really nice. We were very well taking care of from the moment we arrived. The rooms are clean and the breakfast more than to expect in Italian hotels with scrambled eggs and Bruschettas. No elevator though, and a narrow staircase might be a bit negative, but we decided to look upon it on the...

Stayed 2 nts in April 2015. Room was smallish, as was the period of the building, but very clean, quaint and comfortable. Yes, there is no elevator (get used to it in Europe!) but they carry your bags automatically. Loved hearing the church bells outside our window. We found staff helpful and the night clerk who served us t the...

Its located very close to Rialto bridge which is the heart of the city. But rooms are very small with scanty furniture. Staff is not very co-operative. There is no lift in the hotel. Rooms do not have any power points. Carpets in the corridor are out dated.

Rooms are quaint and on the small side, but attractive and clean, and air conditioned. Breakfast was adequate, staff very helpful. Excellent location about halfway between Rialto Bridge and St. Marks. Yes, there are stairs, but that just comes with the territory. Catch the Vapparetto at Rialto to anywhere you want to go, or just wander through beautiful Venice and...

Hotel Serenissima, with its blue and white rooms and Murano chandeliers evokes Venice. Our bathroom was spacious. The breakfast is wonderful. It is a full breakfast with eggs, pastries, cereals, etc. The price, given that it is in San Marco and only minutes to the piazza, is a bargain.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
