Very typical venetian family hotel. Clean and friendly. Excellent buffet breakfast. Short walk from Saint Mark's Square. Close to public transport and there is a landing for a water taxi used by the hotel. Reception staff speak English. Not suitable for disabled travellers as there is no lift. Close to really good bars and restaurants. Room are of an adequate...

Dear Guest, Thanks very much for your positive review. You covered all there was to say. I am happy you had a good stay with us. Your review gives me the chance to suggest to all our future guests, who would like to arrive with the water taxi, to ask for the "stop" Corte Grimani - Boggi, which is the...

Our room was gorgeous - really spacious and with a large wet room en suite. Lovely garden to enjoy in the Venetian sun and it's only a very short walk from St. Mark's Square and all its glories. If you visit, do go up the Basilica's campanile (there's a lift) as the views across the city are awe-inspiring.

Charming and very helpful staff who can't be faulted but unfortunately they are let down by the hotel. Two of us stayed in a room that slept 3 on the third floor (no lift) where there was barely enough room to swing a cat - certainly two people could not move around the room at the same time without falling...

Stayed for a weekend. Shared a room with my mother. We thought if we got the triple room we could just about manage it, we couldn't. We couldn't move around at the same time as the room was so small. Also, beds uncomfortable and pillows SO hard I woke up in the night with neck ache. All the staff were...

The staff could not do enough for us.Although there was not a lift the staff were very helpful with our cases. Very clean and breakfast was great. It was a nice touch having a bar there. Rooms are in a little small. But you are only really there to sleep. Would definatey recommend this hotel. We have stayed in Venice...

The location was good but very noisy during the day listening to the constant noise of people going by with their rolling luggage. Luckily we we were out most of the day. It did quiet down around 7 PM. Our room was small but adequate. There was a very strong flowery cleaning smell. Possibly it was to mask the damp and...

Great location between Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. Friendly and helpful staff with a great continental style buffet breakfast including a range of delicious options. Room small but cosy with a spotless en suite shower - the bed was a little hard but it didn't spoil the visit.

I booked this hotel based on the reviews and price and must say it lived up quite well to them! It's a small hotel about 10 mins from San Marco square and the Rialto bridge. The room and en suite was clean and tidy, just what you need for a solo holiday! My deal included breakfast which was average but...

Venice was one of my favorite places to visit during our tour. This hotel's location right on the island with its antique Italian look makes it a gem. I wouldn't consider staying off the island after the advantages of staying so close to everything. Breakfast was good, people were nice room was older but clean.

The location was just amazing. Easy walking distance to all sights and very easy to find. The service was incredible. The employees are very friendly, helpful and went out of their way to be helpful. The breakfast was great. Hot coffee or tea and an incredible selection of yogurt, cookies, croissants, cheese, juice, cold meats, mini sandwiches, and scrambled eggs....

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
