Hotel Saturnia is an absolute gem. Super location being close to a vaporetto stop, close to St Marks Square and in high end shopping area. The staff are all excellent, but Andrea and Ivan deserve a special mention. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and very individual. Breakfast was very good, with a wide choice available. The bar offers a good...

My husband and I stayed here on Valentine's weekend. The hotel is in a great location, a short walk from St Mark's Square. Our room was huge, bathroom with bath, bedroom and lounge area with sofa. We didn't have a great view - just the back of the building overlooking neighbouring buildings. The stay was quite expensive and the hotel...

We booked in here based on trip advisor reviews and it exceeded our expectations. Rooms were large by European standards with soaring ceilings making a great impression. We used the (expensive) option of water taxi from the train station but not having to lug suitcases or find our way there was great way to start the holiday. We arrived v...

I booked this hotel because I could not find another hotel in the area, the price was right and also the location close to Piazza San Marco; I did not expect to find all the luxury shops, the beautiful avenue, the room with canal views, excellent breakfast, friendly and helpful staff and a great room. I will definitely be staying...

I booked the room around May and pre-paid the stay in order to save some money. I requested a tub along with the Superior Room. When we arrived, we were assigned Room 206 and were very happy. The room was huge and decorated with pink and modern touches accentuated with a large, red Murano chandelier. The room overlooked a small...

Great hotel. Staff friendly and helpful. One of our rooms was ready for us when we arrived early (lunchtime) which was great! Beds comfortable, rooms solid walls, so quiet and shutters on windows if you want to have a lie in! Bathrooms great both bath and shower with lashings of hot water! A special Venitian style hotel with lots of...

Hotel Saturnia% Internaional is located on Calle Larga where several luxuray shops are located at the heart of Venice. A few minutes walking distance to both SanMarco square, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia and Accademia di Bella Arte. The location is perfect for discovering the city and also for the carnival of Venice. Our room was absolutely perfect, very clean,...

We had the opportunity to stay here for 5 nights at the end of Jan and from the moment of arrival the staff throughout the hotel treated us professionally and with respect as it was just part of their nature. I had to have something couriered to another city in Italy and the concierge took care of it in minutes...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
