We stayed for two nights in this fabulous old building which has been carefully maintained and preserved. Superb rooms and wonderful big shared lounge on the first floor. Great location and tremendous staff. Quite expensive, but money well spent. Well done Saturnia.

We stayed 5 nights during carneval and celebrated the 80th birthday of our Mum - the Saturnia team made it the most wonderful stay and although our Mum was in a wheelchair the team especially Andrea (chief concierge) and Giovanni (porter) made our life easy in the cities of bridges. The location of the hotel is perfect even has a...

A very welcoming Hotel with excellent rooms. The Hotel is very well located just 4 minutes away from both St Marks Square and the Fenice Opera House. Breakfast is excellent with everything you could want including hot scrambled Eggs, bacon and sausage. A staff on the front desk are extremely helpful. I have used this hotel for a number of...

I have good things to say about my 8-night stay at Saturnia earlier this month, during Carnevale. The hotel is an easy walk to St. Mark's square, an easy walk to the Giglio waterbus dock, quite close to La Fenice opera house, etc. If you like high-end shopping, just steps out the front door you'll find plenty, the likes of...

Great place to be. Very friendly staff, well located hotel, near most attractions and just behind Teatro La Fenice. Well isolated room and very comfortable bed. Having a drink at the bar in the evening is very relaxing with awesome music.

This hotel coped with our arriving soaked through after difficulties with transport. They arrange a meal, at 22.45, just as the restaurant was closing. We found the level of service outstanding throughout and our week passed extremely pleasantly in our wonderful room. We slept very well and enjoyed wandering the alleyways of Venice at the start of Carnevale. Then, when...

Superb three day stay, perfect location, outstanding breakfast. Within a few minutes from St Marco. Access via Vaporetto from Marco Polo airport is simple & original, though for 120€ you can take one of the iconic water taxis directly to the hotel's private berth...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

“When we take a City Break we want a clean comfortable and reasonably spacious bedroom and a good bathroom other than that we go to take in the sites and culture so are not bothered by the aspect of the room. Just in case you like a room with a view however be aware that most hotels in Venice have only a view of rooftops or the other side of the street. ”
