Venice is a secular city with an extremely rich history. Staying in a place that also has a history, and a family one at that, can only enrich the way you immerse yourself in it. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a wonderful place to stay in Venice...a short walk from Piazza San Marco, near upscale shops and great restaurants. The vaporetto stop, S. Maria del Giulio, was a short less than 5 minute walk from the hotel. We chose This hotel because it has a "water door" where it is possible to arrive directly to the hotel by water taxi, which can be arranged by the hotel or booked independently. This is a very "Venetian" way to arrive at the historic places around Venice in years gone by.
The staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful. There is an elevator to access most rooms, although a few rooms required several additional steps up. My single room was small, but very comfortable with room to hang clothes and a large shower with plenty of hot water. The bed was comfortable, and the room was made up daily,
Breakfasts were generous and fresh. The breakfast staff was friendly and accommodating, and there was an outside garden for breakfast as well. The lobby bar was convenient and comfortable. The onsite restaurant was completely full both nights we were there, so make a reservation in advance. There is a rooftop terrace with tables, chairs and a nice view, but any food or drink would have to be purchased downstairs and brought up to the terrace.
We booked 3 or 4 months in advance, so received a small discount. The price was not inexpensive, but very much in line with other hotels with similar amenities and location. We thought the price was fair.
We were a family of 6 with 3 rooms. We would choose this hotel again, and recommend it for the staff, the location, the price, and the water door.
Thank you to everyone who made our stay very enjoyable.

Thanks for recommending our hotel, which is of great value to us, and we are delighted that you had such a nice experience at our hotel. We agree with you: our private pier is the easiest way to reach us and an opportunity to experience Venice from the water. We are also happy that you enjoyed your visit at our Il Caravellino Bar, which can also serve coffee, drinks and snacks on our rooftop terrace, and for La Caravella Restaurant we always suggest to book in advance :-) Again, thanks for your detailed review and we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you again in the future Warm regards from all of us Gianni Serandrei - owner

On a couple trip with two daughters, the option of 1 room for the 4 was a plus value. The room was quite comfortable and spacious, including two bathrooms, all staff was professional and friendly. The breakfast had a lot of variety and quality. The location is optimal, being 2 minutes' walk from Piazza San MarcoI don't know if I will return to Venice so early, but I highly recommend this Hotel

Booked through jet 2 but researched before booking, hotel is fantastic with amazing staff, cannot fault it in any way. Rooms were great, we stayed in a superior room decorated in typical historic venetian style, comfy bed, good air con and kept spotlessly clean, staff were brilliant nothing was too much trouble. Great breakfast offering, and surprisingly a free water taxi/tour to the murano glass factory (we were super lucky as we were the only people from our hotel on the time we chose, se essentially a private water taxi) didn't eat in the restaurant apart from breakfast as we like to explore local eateries, great hotel bar with a great selection of cocktails/drinks. We arranged private transfer from airport via the hotel which although expensive was definitely a special experience if you can afford it, would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to others, we absolutely loved our stay

I'm almost wary of making this hotel even more popular with a positive review. First, it's in a great location, within a 3-5 minute walking distance from Piazza San Marco, on a wide street that isn't totally inundated with people most of the time, and really close to the Santa Maria del Giglio vaporetto stop. Second, the staff is incredibly professional and welcoming, including to English speakers. I'd even say that it caters to Americans, given the type of breakfast that's offered in the morning (another perk of staying here is that breakfast is included). The room we stayed in was clean, with a great mattress for my middle-aged back, and was tastefully decorated with furniture that fit this amazing city without being over the top. Even though we were facing the street, on the first floor, and directly over the hotel bar it was also surprisingly quiet (at least after the bar shut down around 11-12). Third, it has fantastic air conditioning, which is a huge plus in Italy and was much appreciated during the recent heatwave. They also have a small rooftop deck that we checked out, which I think is new, which has some nice views. Nothing in Venice is cheap, especially during the summer, but I also feel we got an excellent value for our money here. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Venice, especially if you want to be close to Piazza San Marco.

Hotel Saturnia & International Venezia offers a truly iconic and luxurious stay. The rooms were quiet, comfortable and spotless, the staff incredibly friendly, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious with lots of variety. The courtyard was a stunning oasis, adding to the charm of this historic hotel. Situated in the heart of Venice’s luxury fashion district, it was super convenient for shopping and exploring the city.
However, one of the main reasons I chose this hotel was for its gym facilities, as it’s one of the few in Venice with a gym. I was disappointed to find that access came at an extra cost per person per day and the equipment was limited for strength training. If a well-equipped gym is a priority for your stay, this is something to keep in mind. Despite this, the overall experience was wonderful, and the hotel’s location and service truly stand out.

Thanks for your review and for choosing our Hotel Saturnia & International. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated our iconic and luxurious accommodations. Regarding the gym, as you wrote, we are one of the few hotels in Venice to have a Gym & Relax Area and our gym is equipped with exercise bikes, an elliptical trainer, a gymnastics ladder, a bench, dumbbells, a rowing machine, another shoulder machine and two multifunctional machines. We require a very small fee (few euros) because we want to avoid crowds over there, in order to offer our guests the best experience of the services we put at their disposal. If it was free, everyone would go, maybe also those who are not interested and this would create a lot of confusion. Anyhow, we hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future. Kind regards Gianni Serandrei - owner

Stayed the start of March & honestly no regrets to choosing the Saturina. Hotel has a fabulous atmosphere from the minute we arrived we were made to feel more than welcome. Through out our stay staff were exceptional.
We had a superior room which was to front of hotel overlooking the street. It was quite a night for us could be time of year? Being an old building at time you could hear movement in above floor but nothing that bothered us.
Room was in a traditional style with open beam ceiling which added to its charm. The bedroom had a dividing door to a seating/lounge area which also had another tv. Two bathrooms with rituals toiletries & a nice walk in area for clothing & bags as you entered. Mini fridge & tea making facilities.
Overall room was perfect my only issue was hairdryer, box on wall in bathroom. (Bring your own if you need a good hair dryer :) )
Location was so central & for the price it really cannot be compared but you will not be let down!
I had researched a lot before going on how to arrive & in the end I contacted hotel directly. I got a return e-mail very quickly outlining all my options. We decided to go the easiest way which was with the hotels service. Expensive on paper but we will never forget it! We spent three days walking the streets of Venice & I cannot say how many people we would meet dragging bags & trying to find their hotel. Personally my worst nightmare after a 2am start from home. I would say if you can do it let the hotel look after you as they did us, we had a driver in the airport waiting our arrival We booked a public water taxi through the hotel for our return which brought us straight into the airport with just a five minute walk inside to departures.
Venice is beautiful but I would advise good walking shoes as their is alot of walking & every canal small or large came with steps. We always looked forward to our return to hotel which we made good use of the quaint bar. Staff here again always with a smile.
Breakfast had mostly anything you could want. Mainly continental with a little warm offerings in bacon & eggs. But more than enough to set you up for the day.
Loads of designer shopping in the immediate area with plenty of pharmacy's & tourist shops on offer.
We really loved our stay here, the whole of Venice was just great with really nice people welcoming to tourists. I would not hesitate to stay here again on a return visit & already have recommended to friends & family.
Till next time Thank you to all that is Hotel Saturina International x

Thanks for recommending us, that is one of the best awards for us, adnwe are delighted that you had such a nice experience at our hotel. As far as the hairdryer is concerned, our Security Officer has been requiring that type for years, but the person who replaced him has now given us the authorization to use the "real" ones; therefore we are already replacing them gradually in all rooms :-) We look forward to welcoming you again in the near future! Stayed to celebrate milestone anniversary. Staff was very friendly from frotn desk to maid service and they all even wished us a happy anniversary and even suprised us with a small gift. Great breakfast, large variety of fresh baked sweets, breads, waffles, pancakes, meat, cheeses, eggs and bacon. Best breakfast i have ever had at a hotel.
Room was great too overlooking a canal and were often seranaded by the Gondola music below our window. Large bathroom wirh large soaking tub and a shower. Only retret is we couldn't stay longer. Definitely a great place to start our Anniversary trip around Italy.

Venice is wonderful, precious, a widespread museum unique in the world. Having been lucky enough to stay in a hotel in typical Venetian style, in a historic building, where many details - wooden stairs and ceiling, mullioned windows and arches, drapes and carpets, smells and colors - seem to remind you that you are in the heart of the Serenissima, it makes everything more magical and dreamy. The Saturnia is located a few steps from San Marco, a few meters from the Church of San Moisè, one of the most evocative corners of the lagoon city. Our family unit, made up of two adults, a ten-year-old girl and a small Maltese dog (really well received) stayed in a triple room, which positively impressed us with the typical furnishings, color choices, scent and quality of the products for personal hygiene. The staff are friendly and professional, managing to calmly and affably manage the needs of the customers. Breakfast was also varied and of good quality. When we return to Venice, Saturnia will be our safe haven!

The overall price-performance ratio is very high. The service is warm and timely, the breakfast is rich, and there are freshly made muffins and freshly squeezed oranges. The hotel is relatively small and there are not many guests staying. Because it is an old house, there are many room types. The deluxe king-size bed room has a cabinet, which opens to a very good single bed, especially suitable for family customers with children. The single room is actually a 1.5-meter double bed, with a wardrobe, a small desk, and a standard bathroom. There is a triangular space under the stairs, which is also very suitable for placing a suitcase. It’s just that the roof is outside the window, but it is very suitable if the price is cheap. There is no problem with accommodation, and the price-performance ratio is very high. There is a terrace on the roof, and you can overlook Venice in good weather.

I suppose you need to ask the hotel about additional bed for your kid. Also 22 sq.m is good enough, but if you plan to stay in Venezia 7-10 days. For longer I guess the suite with two rooms is better.
About transportation. You need to open alilaguna web site. The closest to Hotel stop is S.Maria del Giglio. So you can check it. Anyway Vaporetto is the best solution. It costs about 7-10 Euro and takes 40 minutes. There are no other "taxi" in Venise then vaporetto, private water taxi or gondole.
Hi there are an abundance of reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance. I suggest going into the fork app we choose by menu and many have discounts if booking on there. We went to Agli artisti.. twice we enjoyed it so much about 12 mins if you don’t get lost easy to do in Venice.. Agli Artisti, small Venetian family run, gondolier’s eat her in the day… we noticed many other Italian restaurants aren’t actually Italian!! Pizza was from 8 euros , I had gluten free pasta so it was around 13 euros, Bellinis weren’t expensive around 6 euros from memory. Cover charge/tip 2.5 euro included bread whereas elsewhere it was 3 euros and no bread!!
The best transportation both to and from the hotel from the airport was by a totally private arrangement through the hotel. A private car meets you at the airport and takes you to a private water taxi. The water taxi takes you directly to the back door of the hotel. Same process in reverse to get back to the airport. About $200 each way. It is the most expensive option, but it was the best for us. Highly recommended.
Take the Alilaguna orange line airport shuttle which operates every 30 mins during the day and hourly late evenings. After collecting your luggage take the escalator up to the first floor and following the signs for water taxi and water bus services.
Alight at the final stop Santa Maria del Giglio and your only 5 mins walk from the Saturnia. Walk down the very narrow passage way in to the square of the same name, turn right and walk along the calle, crossing over one small bridge and round a corner and you will see the hotel on the left.
Go on line and order your tickets, E27 per person and exchange your voucher for the actual tickets at the ticket office opposite the shuttle boats departure pier, also pick up a map with the timetable.
The hotel concierge will offer many suggest for sightseeing and restaurants.
Enjoy Venice.
