For Venice visitors who want to stay in the centre and do not necessarily want to pay the price of the Gritti or the Aman, Saturnia is a great alternative (under one key condition – see below). The hotel is ideally situated on the road that leads to San Marco and just a couple hundred meters away from La Fenice;... More

Although we have not yet arrived at the Hotel Saturnalia, I felt that it was important to share how great the staff has been in responding to a ton of questions I have had. It seems no matter what time of day I send a message the response is not only quick but fully answers my question. The courtesy extended... More

The hotel was centrally located 5 minutes walk from St Marcus Square. It is on the upper class end of town, however Venice is tight enough to cover with a max half hour walk from one end to the other. Room was good (well heated in the autumn) , bathroom was slightly more impressive since I think it was recently... More

This charming, quietly elegant hotel took us back in time to an era we had once only imagined until our visit - an era of refinement, graciousness, and outstanding service and hospitality. It opened its doors in 1908, and by now its seamless operation must be in the DNA of all its staff. The Saturnia is perfectly located on the... More

What a wonderful hotel in beautiful Venice! We stayed two nights at Hotel Saturnia & International starting 11/15/2016. We arrived via water taxi to the hotel's canal entrance, which was very convenient. We were greeted at the front desk by the charming Andrea, who explained the hotel, provided us with a city map, etc. We stayed in a junior suite,... More

We had an excellent stay at Hotel Saturnia. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable and decorated nicely. The location was fantastic, less then 5 minutes from St. Mark's Square. The breakfast was exceptional! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already recommended it to friends.

Very nice combinations of venetian style and modernity you find in this hotel. Every room is individual, from size and look. Of course, there are different classes (and rates), and the deluxe-rooms or suite are the best. Great experience of buffet breakfast. Great experience of friendly and helpful staff. For us of the best Hotels in the center of Venice!

As we walked from our pier getting off the water taxi, we only had to walk few hundred yards then the hotel was on our right. The hotel kindly brought up bottle of prosecco for my birthday. Lovely room and facilities, just on Wednesday morning had workers drilling at early hours of the morning and then the sewage today at... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
