Charming, but leaves a bit to be desired for price. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Courtyard can be loud at night. Room decor was dated - smelled of mildew and vents did not work properly. Beds were not comfortable and had a lot of bugs inside the room. Shower temperature was hot or cold - no warm - and...

Dear Guest MarquisDujour, we have received your comment about your recent stay at the Hotel Giorgione in February. We are very surprised that you have submitted a review of this kind. As already explained personally both during your stay and at the check-out, the only animals at the hotel are the Main Coon cats and the mosquitos. Mosquitos that, being...

From the time I booked four nights for our daughter and husband for their 10th wedding anniversary the experience was perfect. It was easy to communicate with the hotel, particularly Francesca. They found the hotel easily with the instructions and were surprised to be upgraded to a suite with a bottle of prosecco and a murano pendant. They both said...

Lovely hotel with wonderful staff and great atmosphere. We received a double upgrade to a gorgeous room with mezzanine bedroom and even had a bottle of Prosecco left in the room for my fiancés birthday - completely unexpected but a fabulous touch! The hotel is very nicely positioned just a few minutes from Rialto Bridge and is close to local...

The staff were friendly and welcoming but overall the hotel was disappointing for an expensive 4 star. The room was interesting, with the bed situated on a mezzanine level, but the decor was a bit tired and the furnishings average. There was a lot of noise from the street which was not blocked by the single glazed and badly fitted...

Spent two nights here during a whistle stop through Venice. Booked the hotel based on proximity but later found out this was a true gem. The rooms are tastefully decorated and spacious, a little unusual to find that much space in Venice. It felt like the entire room was decorated with antique furniture - possibly it was. There was enough...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
