We love this place. I visited a couple of years ago and what a little gem this place is. Perfect location as you dont need to go too far carrying luggage (and we had a lot following a cruise). The owners are so lovely, friendly and helpful. A few things changed since our first visit - I was so disappointed...

First of all, like most things in Venice, this place is almost impossible to find. I've added directions from the bus station at the end of this review - use them! The location of this B&B is ideal. Not too far to carry your bags from the airport bus, and close to the water bus which regularly goes up and...

Dear guest I'm very sorry for the elevator . Unfortunately to adjust the elevator we had to order a new piece that we had to wait. I also 10 hours of work I was very tired having to bring up and down with breakfast and lugagges. In our B&B work just Max and me, so we open the reception at...

We were treated as family. The location from Pl Roma for those arriving after a long flight was a big bonus. The third floor suite POLO was so quiet and spacious. Right on a small canal and within easy walking to the Gran Canal and other transportation options to continue your adventure. We enjoyed Murano and Burano along with Lido.

I booked Ca Dei Polo after having read all the comments from other guests who had booked this hotel. My friend and I stayed from the 6th to the 7th of May before catching our cruise ship to the Greek Islands. This hotel is well situated, near to almost everything, restaurants, bars, PI Roma bus station and the train station....

We stayed at Ca dei Polo for one night before our cruise. This B&B was a little hard to find due to the house number being worn off in places and it is part of an entire row. It is located very near to the Plazzo Roma and we only had two bridges to cross (the larger one had a...

We used this hotel as a stop over between getting off a cruise and traveling to Florence. Great location just near Pl Roma bus station. Don't go looking for the sign out front because there isn't one. Nice big rooms and breakfast. Shame we only had time to sleep and not experience the hotel.

This hotel is perfectly situated just off the Grand Canal. It is close to the bus and train station but beside a lovely canal, with a wide variety of restaurants and bars close by. The owners and staff could not be more helpful, the rooms are spacious with lovely modern bathroom and breakfast on the roof terrace is a delight....

We were pleased with everything in our stay wish we had went at least 1 more night you just can't see Venice in a day and a half. Location is very accessible from the transportation hub. Then walking or taking a water bus is simple. Great little place so glad we chose it!

Francesca and her brother provided quiet classic service. From arrival to,departure, they were helpful, courteous and welcoming. The service was that of a 5 star boutique hotel. The building was lovely with a history going back hundreds of years. The facilities were good, but it is a former home and is not modern in decor or spaces. For us that...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
