Hotel Santa Chiara is situated in an ancient and more than 500 years old palace facing the Grand Canal and COMPLETELY RENOVATED! We are in Piazzale Roma (the only driving point of Venice), facing Bus and Waterbus stops, opposite to the train station and we are very close to the cruise dock. The location is unbeatable!!! We are the only hotel in Venice with a private parking place (valet parking). The walking distance from here to San Marco is 25-30 minutes. Rooms in the main bulding (Deluxe) are great! Brand new, spacious, with silk on the walls, parquet or venetian floor and murano chandeliers. Many are big enough for families and many have the view on the Grand Canal! The rooms in the annex (classics) are 150 meters from the main building, the furniture is more simple and the rate is unbeatable! Porterage service is always included and they are connected to the main building by phone. Check-in, check-out and breakfast (when included) are in the main building.

This hotel is in a very convenient location adjacent to Piazzalle Roma and only a few steps from the Vaporetto stops. We were in room 105 with a small balcony facing the canal (Rio Nuovo) towards the park (Giardini Papadopali). Check-in was very smooth. The gentlemen at the reception desk were very helpful throughout our our stay (particularly Alexx and Daniel). Our room included a delicious breakfast which included the following choices: coffee/tea; juice; a basket of rolls and croissants; fresh fruit slices; yogurt and cooked eggs. Many thanks to Alexx, Dennis, and the lady chef from India who helped each morning. Room 105 was fairly spacious with a very comfortable bed. It was nice to have two large windows and the doorway that opened onto the canal. There is a small refrigerator and an Italian brand coffee maker. There is a fair bit of boat traffic on the canal which was a little noisy at times, but we got used to it quickly and enjoyed seeing the variety of boats on the canal. We were traveling back to the States and required a COVID test which was readily available at a nearby Red Cross clinic (you should make online reservations and the cost was 22 Euro each). The only minor inconveniences were that one morning the breakfast room staff did not speak English well so we could not put in our order. On our checkout the hotel had arranged for a taxi to the airport which never showed up without even a call. Overall the experience at the hotel was wonderful and we highly recommend it.

First is location: the district of Santa Croce where the hotel is located is beautiful and not very well known by most tourists. Is very venetian and with a lot of activities - restaurants, bars, museums, churches, casino, etc. – all walking distance. Thanks to strategic location is also not far to other districts – one can just walk or take the water transport. Vaporetto stops are just in front of Santa Chiara.
The hotel itself is a wonderful mix of two wings, carefully restored old classic Venetian building (former monastery) and modern but still Venetian style new addition. Every room has its own style too, also both modern and Venetian. Most have beautiful view on Canal Grande of side canal. Both wings were renovated and updated recently. Rooms are large, with modern equipment. Hotel has own restaurant and bar, many food items are freshly produced by the hotel. And it is the only hotel in Venice with own underground car park.
Tourist attraction by itself is beautiful, restored in detail, wooden Venetian motorboat, which docks in front of the hotel and it might be rented for trips through Venice and Lagoon.
The staff knows everything on Venice, so best way to plan your activities is to ask them, you will save a lot of time and money.

My wife and I had a very nice brief stay at Santa Chiara Hotel. We did an Italian honeymoon, Venice being the first stop. We loved Hotel Santa Chiara, it wound up being probably our favorite of all the hotels we stayed at in Italy. We took a car from the airport and it's very easy to get to- it's right next to the only area of Venice accessible to vehicles. It's also right on the Grand Canal. Staff were very friendly and accommodating from the moment we checked in. We mentioned we were on our honeymoon and they upgraded us from a city view to a canal view room free of charge. Very nice. It's a pretty small hotel in an old palazzo, but the building is very nice inside, elegant and clean throughout. We were very happy with the room. It's definitely more old-fashioned if you're used to US hotels, but still a nice, cozy and clean room. The canal view was lovely, had 2 windows that opened up right onto the grand canal. There was a little noise at night, but once we closed all the shutters we were actually surprised how quiet the room was given we were right above the canal. The bathroom was also really nice and had clearly been remodeled recently. Breakfast was also very good here; all the food we had was tasty, and waitstaff were friendly and attentive. Location is good- it's about a 30 minute walk from here to San Marco square so keep that in mind if the square is your main destination. Fortunately, the hotel is right next to a water shuttle stop. You can take the shuttle boat over to Rialto and it's just a few minute walk from there, we did this no problem, it's pretty cheap. Hotel is very close to train and bus stations, arrival/departure were nice and smooth here. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would gladly stay here again when we return to Venice.

The hotel consists of two parts: one is carefully renovated old Venetian monastery with traditional look, but modern interiors and equipment. Another is new wing, contemporary but still Venetian style. While the hotel was completely updated recently, the only underground garage in Venice was added, technology piece of art by itself.
The location is perfect. While walking distance to train station and Piazzale Roma, the only part of Venice one can reach by car (but far enough not to notice its proximity), even shorter walk to several Vaporetto stops, on the Grand Canale and with own pier makes a perfect place for Venice and its neighborhood. In fact, it is strategic location, because it provides with easy access to every Venetian district: Santa Croce, Dorsoduro, Cannaregio, San Marco and Villaggio Eden, while and Castello is a bit further walk, or easily accessible by water transport. The hotel has its own motorboat, beautiful 1956 Celli, nicely restored and available within Venice.
The view from room is always spectacular, probably the best is roof suite, with large terrace, but from most of other rooms you can have Canale Grande or Rio Nuovo (side canal) view. Each room has its personality and a bit different style and décor. The in-room equipment is all new.
Hotel has its own restaurant Prette Roso and bar.
Finally, I must mention skilled and friendly staff, helpful not only to book and the hotel but also to plan your time and explore Venice.

My wife and I stayed here in July our first time in Venice. The hotel is in a fantastic location no need to drag your suit cases around Venice while we seen plenty of people doing.
We upgraded our room when we booked as it was a special occasion, well worth having a canal view once you’d had a good stroll around and wanted to chill with a Prosecco you could just watch the boats going up and down the canal and the people walking around.
To walk to San Marco took us a good hour as we stopped a few times and just admired Venice it’s which was absolutely stunning in every way do not let people say it smells because it doesn’t and it was over 30oC.
Only issues we found with the hotel was the AC was not very good for the time of year and there was no price for the mini bar and wasn’t till checking out we got charged for the water which in a hotel with its price tag I’d of thought a bottle of water would of been complementary. So go the the nearby shop to get what you need and use the fridge for that.
The breakfast was good lots of choice of which you got to choose from a list and it was brought to you, the breakfast staff could of been a little more cheerful but literally a part from that the hotel was beautiful well worth a visit.

It took more than two years to return to normal and I am pleased to report that Santa Chiara is as good as expected. Excellent location right at the entrance to the island, close to railway station, overlooking the Western entrance to Grand Canal. All services are in place, the old staff is as always super competent and friendly, ready to help to organize your stay in Venice and around Laguna. The standard is high as always. At the beginning of May there were still few pandemics rules in place in Venice, as face masks obligatory at all public transports, but otherwise the place is as open and as friendly as always. The state of art underground car park, the only private parking in Venice, works very well. The hotel offers again beautifully restored motorboat. All tourist attractions are open and working normally. The public areas were a little less crowded than previously at this time of year, which is actually good for tourists, because the access is much easier.

The Santa Chiara is perfectly located. There are over 400 bridges in Venice and due to the hotel being so close to the train terminal and the bus terminal, there is only 1 bridge to cross which is very handy if you are carrying heavy suitcases. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and helpful. Even though the hotel is located opposite the bus terminal, it is very quiet and you can still have a view of The Grand Canal. It is very easy to walk further into the main attractions and there are plenty of choices of restaurants near the hotel. It is advisable to look at the wine list before ordering as there is quite a range in price. This hotel has had a few reviews about breakfast...we found it absolutely fine. The longest we waited was about 10 minutes before being served. The lady who runs the breakfast, works really hard and was always very pleasant, there was a gentleman also helping who probably wasn't quite as productive as the lady.
The rooms are spacious and decorated well. We had a fabulous time and would definitely like to return again.

What a wonderful hotel right on the grand canal. The hotel is very convenient when travelling by air and getting a coach transfer as the hotel is a hop away from the coach stop any right next to the vaperetta stop. The board is bread and breakfast but it was very good food on offer.

Got here close to 3 pm to find out our room wasn't ready. After a long day of traveling the last thing I wanted to do is wait in the lobby for another 20 min 😒but we did.
The location was great, walking distance from the train station, but that plus quickly became an issue when it's 1 am and people are still partying outside. Haven't slept. Irritated and annoying. The hotel needs to invest in better insulation and noise canceling triple pane windows. Waste of money. Wouldn't recommend unless you like to NOT SLEEP at all.

You feel very welcome and at home. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is rich and food is good quality.
Rooms are very comfortable, quite some with beautiful view of the canal, designee in Venetian style with high standard of materials.
Position is also great. Close by to all the kind of transport and services. Easy walking distance to the all points that you must
see in Venice. Very good value for money.

I cannot answer either question. The hotel suggested a nearby restaurant that we enjoyed very much. We only spent one night at the Santa Chiara, which we chose (because it’s on land) so that we could take a taxi to the airport at 4:00 am on a Sunday.
Thank you for the quick reply Piotr60!
I confirm we are pretty close to the Ghetto, about 10-12 minutes walking if you know your way.
Roberto
Buongiorno!
I confirm you that the cheapest way is the bus (approx 8 euros per person). You can jump also on a regular taxi car, we are the only hotel in Venice you can reach by car and the only one with a private parking lot (and don't forget we are on the Grand Canal!!!). The taxi car will cost about 40 euros per ride.
Should you need more information do not hesitate to contact us directly by email!
Warmest regards,
