We enjoyed our four-night stay here. We had a two-story suite at the back of the magnificent garden which attracts beautiful birds (the Eurasian Blackbird for instance). The hotel is lovely and the staff is first rate. The breakfast buffet is terrific, with excellent choices and even eggs to be ordered. The bar is elegant and a lovely place to...

This hotel is based on a building dating from 1501. It has a large garden which is unique in the main islands of Venice, and was most recently updated in 2011. It is part of the Marriott Autograph Collection and can be accessed through the Marriott website. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom is comfortable, though ours did show...

The room was great. We had a view of the canal. Very well decorated and comfortable. One thing we liked about it was the location, which was away from the typical tourist destinations in Venice. Long walk from parking if you have bags, so I recommend the water taxi. Even at 70 Euros, it would be worth it.

4 days with the family for a quick vacation break. Beautiful place north of the island, facing Murano e.g. outside of the too crowded part of the city and therefore very quiet. Incredible garden with a private pier on the ´lagune' All the charm of an old fashion yet luxurious place with good service. Can only be strongly recommended.

Nice hotel, however not living up to the expectations suggested by the price. The room was charming, but far too small. Minibar prices horrendous, the spa area only accessible free of charge for one hour per day, but the sauna was out of order anyway during our visit. One day at breakfast time we had to cue for a table...

Honestly, if it wasn't for the size of the room it would've gotten a five but we got an upgrade due to being Marriott gold in the room was the size of a closet. Living in New York City I don't expect a huge room in a major city, but this was very small. The staff at the hotel we're...

My husband and I visited Venice for our first wedding anniversary. The Boscolo Venezia definitely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we stepped in to appreciate the chandeliers and artwork, we were greeted with friendly faces. The team at the reception desk were ever-willing to offer us advice on the best tourist sights, as well as how to get around...

Quaint hotel with an excellent breakfast buffet. The birds where a little aggressive but the hotel is in such a lovely setting. Easy to get from the airport to hotel, hotel provides shuttle to San Marcos square, and easy access to transportation to the train station. You even walk back to the hotel if need be.

So like many Venice hotels this hotel is located far from the airport, and you need to get there by boat. It would've been extremely helpful of the staff to have sent us helpful information on how to get to the hotel from the airport. Especially given the circumstances. We wasted €50 euro on a taxi that took us to...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
