Super stay and wonderful location especially as we had heavy luggage for our cruise and the Vaporetta stop was right outside hotel. Lovely room beautiful clean beds with superb view onto the Grande Canal,( we were upgraded to a junior suite) Very good service at breakfast, good selection of fruit and hot breakfast to order which can be taken outside...

Perfect location for Venice with a canal bus stop right in front. We were upgraded to a canal view room which was extremely nice and roomy. Very well furnished. Not sure how the street view rooms would be since "streets" in Venice are really like tiny alleys, so there would likely be only a view of another building. The staff was...

This is located right on the canal basin, in front of the San Zaccaria vaporetto, so the location is uber-convenient. No need to drag your luggage across bridges and through winding streets. It was less expensive than some of the other hotels along this street, and our room was lovely. The room was a decent size and the bathroom met...

Loved our stay at the Savoia & Jolanda Hotel. The staff well lovely, helpful and very accommodating. It was clean and comfortable. Room was small, but it did not matter a bit. The location was 5 minutes from St. Marks, and directly in front of water transportation. The breakfast was elegant and plentiful, great for starting a full day. We...

It was a very nice little hotel that is very centrally located to all the touristy spots in Venice (e.g. plaza san marco, etc.). I loved the convenience, but our hotel room itself was a bit on the small side, and the floors were a little slanted (likely because it's a very old building that has been renovated). I loved...

This hotel is situated right by the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop. This means it is easy to get to cheaply. It is clean and has friendly staff and a great restaurant with excellent wines. Very near the San Marco square and by the water.

You will never find better location in the center of Venice than Savoia and Jolanda. It is just in front of one of the main water bus stations (S.Zaccaria) so, you won't suffer from carrying your bags for a long distance across Venice bridges to reach your hotel. It is within walking distance (2 minutes) to reach St.Mark square and...

We arrived in Venice on Sunday 8th June 2014 for a 4 day visit and had to circumvent the annual Vogalonga Boat festival by catching the water bus on the Canale della Giudecca instead of the Grand Canal arriving at St Mark' s Square at around Mid Day. We walked across the large pedestrian walkway into the cool refreshing air...

Good quality rooms with good service. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel and both times we were pleased with our stay. Two minutes walk to St marks Square and room looked over the Grand Canal.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
