We stayed at the Savoia e Jolanda for four nights in February 2017. This was our second trip to Venice. The hotel is right opposite the Zaccaria boat stop, so if using the Alilaguna (blue line) from the airport it couldn't be more convenient, you literally step off the boat and the hotel is right opposite. It is also very...

Stay at Savoia and Jolanda to have the feeling of staying ion Venice. The location is beautiful, with Gondola rides right across the hotel. The food is wonderful particularly the pom fret Fish. The staff is very friendly and guide is appropriately. I forgot my stole in the open restaurant in the night, but was able to get it back...

We had a 3 night stay at the Hotel Savoia & Jolanda prior to leaving on our cruise from Venice to Athens. The Hotel is excellently located on the Grand Canal and a few yards away from the water taxi stop. This made our journey much less stressful than it could have otherwise been as we had quite a bit...

I'd stayed here a few times in the past, at least twice in the main hotel Savoia e Jolanda and once in an annexed building in a courtyard around the corner, previously known as Villa Igea and which used to be bookable separately on hotel website. Now the hotel have done away with the Villa Igea title but the hotels...

My wife, 19 month old son and I have just spent another fantastic week in Venice, and again returned to the excellent Savoia. With a balcony overlooking the lagoon and San Giorgio Maggiore, it could...

My family had a wonderful time here between Christmas and New Year. The location is amazing, just next to the Doge's Palace and St Mark's Square. Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
