I was very satisfied with my 3 night stay at this boutique hotel. It is close to the Piazzale Roma and the Santa Lucia railway station. Just over the bridge and a 3 minute walk to the hotel. The front lobby personnel are professional and polite. The room was small, but comfortable. The breakfast area was nice and warm. I...

We stayed here 3 nights. This hotel is 5 minutes walk from the Santa Lucia train station, which is a great draw. The hotel doesnt have an elevator, so do request a lower floor if you have heavy suitcases. The rooms are relatively small and clean. Airconditioning helps (in winter and summer) The hotel staff are very friendly and will...

This is the motto of this hotel, that makes you feel at home..and it delivers! Right from the reception at check-in and during your whole stay all the staff (including the owner) is very nice and welcoming. Although small (without elevators) it has a very cozy atmosphere and the room is silent, well cleaned and with a beautiful decoration. There...

Great location, 5 minutes walking from train station, and right in front of the bridge entering historical Venice city. Staff very friendly. Breakfast good. Rooms little bit small, but confortable. Wifi might be improved : little slow and sometime difficult to get connected. On overall, nice place for 2-3 nights. I'll be back for sure.

Close to train station, shops, restaurants. Clean, nice breakfast (great cuppachino) and friendly staff. Owner around to keep an eye on things. Feels like staying in someone's house, definately an 'Inn' and not a hotel. I booked a single standard room - very small with bathroom even smaller. I don't think a big person will fit into the shower. Pillows...

We stayed at this quaint little hotel for two nights in October 2016 and it was perfect for our needs. We had just arrived from a cruise and a 5 minute taxi boat ride took us right by its street. A 2 minute walk from there. Close to the train station, to the road out of Venice, a nice sector...

Small Hotel located on a quiet side street a short walk from the train station, water busses and Piazzale Roma. Although it looks a bit shabby and unpromising from the street it is nonetheless clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. On the downside there is no lift and you will need to watch your head when...

Awesome location. It is located just 50 meters inside from main street. You are very close to main street, yet no noise. Very safe surroundings. It is just 100 meters from main water bus stop and 100 meters from Santa Lucia railway station. This is around 500 meters from main Venice bus stand (piazzale roma). Plenty of restaurants and shops...

A 3 star hotel right by the Grand Canal and train station - great location. An older hotel (no elevator) so you'll have to haul your luggage up those narrow stairs (we were on the 3rd floor). The room was pretty basic, but clean and had all the amenities.Staff was very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast.

We found La Locanda di Orsaria to be just sensational, it is merely minutes walk from the station and canal and the staff and service were second to none, looking forward to coming back on our next visit, highly recommend it.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
