We visited Venice the last week of September and early October of 2016. Hotel Bisanzio is a small but wonderful hotel in a perfect location. A very short block away from the main drag of Grand Canal, it is far enough to be quite but close enough to be in the center it all. At 315 Euro plus 9 Euro... More

The stay was fine at first. Friendly staff, excellent location, decent value. However something happened that inspired me to write my first ever TripAdvisor review. It was that shameful. We asked the front desk for advice on how to get to Murano. The man at Bisanzio said we could take the water bus for Eur30 for 4 people, we for... More

Dear Guest, the tour offered is a visit of a real glass making factory in the Murano island, which at a limited cost gives the opportunity to have a ride through the small canal of Venice, to see how the glass work is made with an explanation on history and techniques and a visit of the factory and show rooms.... A lovely hotel nestled in a backstreet just off the grand canal, a few steps from Vivaldi's church and only a couple of minutes from San Marco. It's perfectly nice inside, clean and well presented. Rooms a bit small but adequate given the whole point of visiting of visiting Venice is to get out and about The guys on front... More

We spent 2 nights at the Hotel Bisanzio in Venice at the end of our trip to Italy. Although it was very close to St. Mark's Square, it was far enough away and set back so that it felt very private and quiet. The staff at the front desk were very friendly. Gabriele Brunelli was especially helpful and took great... More

Two couples traveling though Italy for 3 weeks. Venice was our first stop. This is an excellent hotel in heart of Venice (very close to San Marco). The quality of the staff (Marco, Luca and Tony) would be hard to match in most larger and more expensive hotels and were very great and helped with everything from recommendations for restaurants,... Very nice, clean and well located hotel. The water bus stops are very close and San Marco Square is only a short walk away. The only downside is the hotel doesn't have much in the way of cooking facilities so the breakfast is a bit limited. The staff are very friendly and helpful and we would happily stay here again if... More

We loved this hotel. The reception staff were so friendly and helpful and the location was great. The room was clean and comfortable and ample linen. Easy to find, close to many dining opportunities. Close to excursion points and vaporetta (public boat transport) and St marks square.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of Venice, in a location that is extremely quiet but close to all the principal attractions of the city, the Hotel Bisanzio occupies an ancient 16th-century palazzo that was once the home and “workshop” of Alessandro Vittoria, one of the most important Venetian sculptors of the 16th century and a student of the great Jacopo Sansovino. A recent, careful restoration has allowed the Hotel Bisanzio to preserve the fascination of an ancient Venetian palazzo that is, today, equipped with every modern amenity, to ensure a relaxing stay in a structure equipped with elevator, air-conditioning, LCD TV and Wi-Fi Internet access. Ease of access is not secondary when talking about Venice, where people almost always get around on foot. The Hotel Bisanzio is perfectly located, just 150 meters from the city's main public transportation stop (San Marco - Zaccaria), where all the lines for the other areas of the city and the adjacent islands arrive and depart. ... more   less
