Location, location, location....couldn't be better. 5 min walk to Piazza San Marco and 2 min walk to main waterfront, but surprisingly quiet. Easy to find on foot and has dock for those taking a private water taxi. Staff are warm, welcoming and helpful, rooms cosy and spotless, breakfast good continental selection. Walking 5 mins away from the hustle and bustle...

I went to this hotel with my friends. It was clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that we had to ask for kettle etc and the tea coffee and milk was never replaced. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

This was our second stay at the Hotel Bisanzio and it was just as outstanding as our last stay in 2012. In fact, Marco on the front desk even remembered us (with a little prodding) from our previous trip. In fact, all the staff was extremely helpful. The breakfast was very good and the staff recommended several local dining establishment...

Bisanzio is a very good hotel, with a great location (very close to Piazza San Marco and water bus stations), friendly staff and various breakfast. The room and the bathroom were large and very clean .

I mistakenly booked my reservation for the wrong nights and the hotel was kind enough to cancel my "nonrefundable" booking without any hassle. Of course I rebooked for the proper nights and really enjoyed my stay there. It's a great location just off the bustling Riva degli Schiavoni, and this hotel offers comfort and convenience in a central location between...

I love the Bisanzio. This is my favourite hotel but please do not tell anyone or we won't be able to stay as it will be too busy. I have travelled extensively and arriving at the Bisanzio is like going home. There is always someone friendly and lovely to welcome you. This time it was Marco. He could not do...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of Venice, in a location that is extremely quiet but close to all the principal attractions of the city, the Hotel Bisanzio occupies an ancient 16th-century palazzo that was once the home and “workshop” of Alessandro Vittoria, one of the most important Venetian sculptors of the 16th century and a student of the great Jacopo Sansovino. A recent, careful restoration has allowed the Hotel Bisanzio to preserve the fascination of an ancient Venetian palazzo that is, today, equipped with every modern amenity, to ensure a relaxing stay in a structure equipped with elevator, air-conditioning, LCD TV and Wi-Fi Internet access. Ease of access is not secondary when talking about Venice, where people almost always get around on foot. The Hotel Bisanzio is perfectly located, just 150 meters from the city's main public transportation stop (San Marco - Zaccaria), where all the lines for the other areas of the city and the adjacent islands arrive and depart. ... more   less
