The hotel staff are courteous, and the rooms are very quiet and attractive. My wife and I have stayed 4-5 times in the past several years. The location is great - near the Accademia Bridge and vaporetto stops. This is why we keep returning to this hotel.

We stayed in one of the canal view rooms and i was very much worth the extra few dollars. We had floor to ceiling windows on two sides with a view of the local canal as well as the grand canal. The location is very quiet and very close to several of the vaparetto stops but you can really walk...

We stayed at the hotel American Dinesen in early March 2010. Our room was comfortable, the heating worked well which was great as Europe was under an unusual cold spell. The bathroom was clean & modern, lots of hot water. Bed was comfortable with nice & crisp linnen. Breakfast was very good, & the staff very pleasant. Venice is beautiful...

We had a room with a balcony overlooking a canal. Make sure you ask for one of those rooms; you won't regret it. The room was clean and very roomy; they offerred a avery nice breakfast. The location is right next to the Academia; across the bridge you are a pleasant 15-minute walk to San Marco. The view from our...

We loved every moment from our arrival at the front door by water taxi. Room was splendidly furnished and more spacious than we had anticipated (tho' bathroom was small). Breakfast had a huge choice. Staff were smiling and helpful, particularly Marco at the front desk and the lady providing coffee at breakfast. Recommended restaurants were just what we wanted. Hotel...

Our stay at your hotel was thoroughly enjoyable and the service excellent. Of particular note was Marco who assisted us throughout our stay and your very charming breakfast waitress, always smiling and on hand to assist, where nothing seemed too much trouble. If we come back to Venice (I am sure we will) we will have no hesitation in re-booking,...

The room was clean, the bathroom very new and clean, and the rest of facilities were clean and with nice decoration. Also the breakfast was good and staff were very kind with us. The Hotel is located a 10 minutes walking from St. Mark square, very quiet place and very near from the center of the city.

The hotel itself was clean and nice BUT the staff were disgusting, extremely rude and unhelpful. Venice is an amazing, beautiful place The staff at this establishment ruined it. Do not stay here.

Dear Sir, we are really very upset to read your review. Usually, as you may understand from our 490 reviews on tripadvisor.com, the service provided by our staff it’s highly appreciated by our guests and it’s became a peculiarity of our Hotel. Seems strange that no one of our staff has provided a good service. We can’ t understand why...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
