This was our third visit - you can tell that we love it here! The location is perfect and the hotel is charming, comfortable and run by a lovely team of people who go the extra mile to make your stay special. Rooms have been redecorated since our last visit and are even more comfortable and tasteful than ever. We...

Loved our stay at American Dinesen. Huge room (especially by Venetian standards), contemporary decor and very comfortable beds. First class housekeeping. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful. Great location close to Accademia vaporetto stop and lots of restaurants nearby. We would happily return.

Lovely hotel, spotless, quiet, really liked it's location and the breakfast was very good. Has it's own docking spot, so very easy. We stayed in the annexe, which worked out very well. Our daughter had her room right next to us and she liked the fact she had access to the courtyard where she sat and read between our excursions!...

This is our favourite hotel in Venice. It has been completely refurbished since we last visited. Now it is more of pure luxury, where we earlier felt more of the special worn Venetian style. The staff is nothing but fantastic – waiting up until 2AM when I arrived – and then served a wonderful breakfast a few hours later.

A very good an quiet hotel in an ideal location in San Vio. A water taxi can take you to its front door. It is minutes from Accademia, Fondazione Cini, Guggenheim, Salute etcetera. The quality of rooms and service matches the price.

We stayed in the newer building to the site of reception. What a place to stay in Venice. While the tourist places in Venice didn't impress us as they were over crowded and seen on too many pictures, the area around this hotel is very charming. Almost ideal Venice like. Small cafe's that opened early so we could enjoy sitting...

Really could not ask for more in a last minute booking. Room was plenty large with a geranium-draped balcony over the canal. A short, 10 minute walk to La Fenice. Lovely and quiet. The service was friendly and the bathrooms was newly renovated. Enjoy!

Spent five days here last week (trying to avoid the American election), and the hotel was excellent. Can't understand why a previous poster said to avoid the Annexe, as the room we had there was lovely. OK, maybe it didn't have a "romantic" canal view or balcony, but it was right next to the hotel, with an almost private entrance...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
