This hotel is very centrally located, steps from Piazza di San Marco. Their breakfast is quite nice. Rooms are not too small, and have traditional Venetian decoration style. service at the front desk was responsive at all times.

Wonderful location, less than a 5 min walk to San Marco. The staff was wonderful and the front desk was very helpful. Some rooms were very small, but cozy and clean, pay to upgrade and get a different room if you like your space. Breakfast was good, continental style with hot scrambled eggs and sausage. Overall a wonderful stay.

This hotel is 5 minutes from the square. Perfect to explore and then to return to rest when the cruise ship tours come in, and then go out again. Our room was a corner with a view of the roof tops. Bath was standard with tub and shower . The breakfast was large and varied. The staff were friendly and...

My sister and I took my mom to Italy for her 80th BD - we visited Rome and Venice. Mom uses a walker or cane, (we brought both) so we were worried about her getting around in Venice. The water busses were no problem for her to maneuver, as the folks there helped her on and off. We stayed at...

The location of the hotel is really very good as it takes place near S. Marco square. The staff is friendly and helpful, speaking several languages. The breakfast room is beautiful with many food choices. I liked that after check out I could leave my luggage in the hotel without charge. The only tiring thing is that as it is...

BW is central and only 2 streets away from St. Marc's square. The rooms were nice, clean and sufficient. Desk staff very helpful and pleasant. For about $230 US per night, including breakfast such a deal.

The only good thing I can say about this hotel is the location. As you leave the hotel you are right in St Marks Square. The hotel is very old and not well maintained. If you can find another place to stay I would suggest you do. By far this is not a 3 star hotel at least my American...

This is our second visit to this hotel and I know the hotel inspector, Alex Polizzi, would say it is in the detail. Yes the hotel is showing some signs of the need for an update and redecoration. Our room was number 412, on the top floor with no real view. Some of the wallpaper was peeling, the grouting in...

Think the title of my review says it all! We have just returnedd from our second stay at this hotel (my 7th trip to Venice) and we would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. It is quite literally ONE minute from St Marks Square. Last time we visited (6 years ago) we had our son with us and therefore...

The hotel is just behind the Piazza San Marco. The room was small, but OK for Venice. The breakfast room was also, typical Venice, small, but a good start in the morning. The price was high, but if you consider the location, it was reasonable. Our room was in the highest floor, and we could see the Campanile from there.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
