I booked this hotel for our time in Venice for three reasons: elevator, proximity to St Mark's, and breakfast. Happy to report that the Best Western Montecarlo delivered on all three! The hotel and its rooms have a very lived in, borderline worn down feel to them. It fits with the Best Western name I guess. For the price, though,...

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It's in a fab location in easy walking distance from just about everything! Cannot fault anything during our stay. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good. Our room was on the small side but it was comfortable and had everything we needed. We would definitely stay here again.

Booked on line a month before visiting. Hidden away up a small alleyway it is a great hideaway but only minutes from St Marks Square. All the staff are friendly and go out the way to ensure you have a great stay. They even laid on a trip to one of the glass factories which was awesome. The room is...

I'd definitely recommend Hotel Montecarlo. Location is brilliant, right off of St Marks Square, not far for Rialto Bridge. Not to mention some amazing restaurants. Staff were amazing! Really accommodating & friendly. Rooms are lovely, very old fashioned and gorgeous details. The house keeping really ensure the rooms are prestine also. Only thing I could suggest is more variety for...

Great hotel in a fantastic location and so close to St Mark's Square. Very good breakfast selection and a great room. Very friendly staff too. If we go back to Venice we'd definitely stay there again.

Part of Best Western Hotel chain. Rooms are small but it's an old property near San Marco Square. Staff very accommodating. Good buffet breakfast each morning. Easy walk to everything we wanted to do.

I highly recommend this hotel. It was convenient to everything and the staff was very hospitable. The room was large, clean and comfortable. We plan to stay there again if and when we return to the beautiful city of Venice.

A nice hotel in a great location with a view over the city close to San Marco square. Rooms are a bit small (as expected in Venice), but comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good.

The Hotel Montecarlo is an authentic old fashioned hotel that still uses keys instead of swipe cards to enter your room. We booked the apartment which has 2 bedrooms but can have 3 with use of a sofa bed. The apartment is located about 50 metres from the main hotel, short walk from St Marks Square, and is fully self...

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the free Murano trip and tour. The apartment was very comfortable and in the heart of the city. The apartment has 2 bedrooms as we were a family of 3 it suited us well. We enjoyed our stay at the Monte Carlo and would love to stay there again.

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
