On arrival the hotel was just a few minutes walk from the Bus (and Train) station. We were greeted by very pleasant staff who were more than helpful. We stayed in room 107 at the back of the hotel. The room was very clean and quite. Just a short walk to the water bus if needed but the best way...

My husband and I have just spent 4 nights at this excellent hotel so here is my review. Location - Excellent location less than 5 minutes from the bus terminus in Piazzale Roma just over two bridges. Virtually opposite the railway station again over one bridge. Check in - Smooth check in and the room was ready for us, the...

We leave tomorrow after 4 nights at this hotel, it's so perfectly situated to the piaza roma airport bus terminal, quick 3 min walk over 2 bridges and done. We stayed in ground floor room which is beautifully done out, with huge showroom, window overlooking the garden terrace. There is no noise at all at night so slept very well....

Very easy to walk to from either train station or bus station. Just one bus ride from the airport. Requested a view over the canal and we got it! It was an excellent room for view, spacious even with an extra bed for our daughter and lovely bathroom with bath-tub. The staff were friendly and helpful; we want to go...

The Hotel is a great location for the Train and Bus station, the room was great, cleaned every day it has a very confy double bed with ensuite bathroom and walk in shower. Breakfast is available, cereal, fruit, bread and cake. Which helps you get ready for the day ahead. We found plenty of nice places to eat and drink...

I stayed in this Hotel for two nights for work. When I checked in, the guy at the reception gave me the key of my room without giving me information on where the elevator was, on the password for the WiFi connection, on the timetable for breakfast next morning. When I entered in my room, I found it quite small,...

We're currently in room 303, and this is our second day at this hotel. The room is sumptuous, bathroom is clean marble and views of the canal are amazing. All the staff are polite and helpful, and speak very good English. The location is very convenient as from the window you can almost see the central train station in Venice...

The ambiance, location and breakfast are on point. The hotel itself is just near to everything. We had a chance to explore the hotel's neighborhood and it is awesome. It is very safe and the same time convenient. However, just be aware of those folks around who are offering help to carry your bags, just say no. You can manage...

Nice comfy hotel, across the canal from the train station. We Took the bus from the airport and it was literally across one bridge. Yes is far away from Saint Mark's. But it's cheaper, we literally ate at many great restaurants from 10-12 Euros for a full set. With many cafes close by.... It's clean and small and nice to...

I highly recommend this hotel for first time tourists in Venice who's on a budget. It's less than 5 minutes walk(or more of you have really big & heavy luggage) from the Santa Lucia train station if you're coming in by train or Piazale Roma where the airport bus drops people off. From there, it's close to at least 5...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
