This hotel has two buildings one by the Grand canal and one further back on the property. The room was very clean and neat. Did not use or check out the mini bar. Bathroom was giant. Bed was small but very clean. If you can rate a hotel based on towels this one would get five stars. Great towels. Bell...

We had a short stay here, we had been to Rome and Florence earlier in our vacation. Only 2 nights here, we were upgraded to a suite which was amazing. We almost hated to leave the room! It was large, clean, and had a comfy bed and huge bathroom with anything you could want in a bathroom. We did not...

The Hotel Monaco and Grand Canal was a wonderful place to stay. It is located right off San Marco Square, so finding your way around from the hotel was easy and everything was close. The staff were outstanding. We had a lovely, big room, but did see the smaller rooms - and they are small. The breakfast was nothing to...

We stayed here for four nights a few weeks ago and fell in love with the Hotel and its location.........perfect for exploring Venice on foot or by boat. We have stayed in two or three different hotels in Venice before but this was definitely the best so far.....close to St Marks Square, walking distance to all the sights and a...

It is a Good hotel and has a Nice by the water. It offers good food. My family lived sitting outside by the water watching the boats pass by. I was very relaxing. The hotel has good rooms and it's location is great. Loved the experience.

We stayed her for 2 nights before our cruise. What a great hotel and location. Steps away from all the sights. Great outdoor dinning with a 5 star view. We will come back to this hotel next time for sure!

This is in a perfect spot to explore the city. Gorgeous views of grande Canal from rear dining. The rooms are small but well appointed. Front desk staff was very helpful. The restaurant is wonderful but pricey. Close to high end designers if you want to pamper your second wife.

This hotel was everything I expected it to be and more! The location, service, room appointments...all of it was first rate. We were especially impressed with the friendliness and knowledge of the front desk staff. Mario was exceptional with his friendliness, knowledge and professionalism. There was the added bonus of a complimentary taxi to Murano! Our lunch, overlooking the Grand...

We have just come back from Easter weekend in Venice and booked a table at this restaurant before we travelled. We spoke to the maitre'd - Patricio on the telephone to make the booking to ensure our children would be welcome ( age 11 and 14). We were assured they would be "children are our next generation of customers! "...

I just returned from a 10 day trip to Italy and couldn't wait to stay at this hotel....it did not disappoint! Our junior suite was incredible, size, bathroom (fabulous!) linens etc. The hotel staff couldn't do enough for my sister and I. We needed a restaurant review and Mario not only gave us the name of one of the best...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
