Our trip to Venice was complimented by our stay at the beautiful Danieli hotel. Our upgraded room faced the lagoon with amazing views of gondolas, cruise ships, water taxis, speed boats and tourists galore. The hotel from outside is ordinary but once through the revolving doors a majestic beauty awaits. The refurbished palace retains the grace and charm of bygone...

Our first visit to Venice was a magical time with a dream setting, the Hotel Danieli. You feel you are in old Venice but with all the modern advantages. The location is perfect soo close to St Mark Square. If you wake up early you can have breakfast and have the square to yourself, take pictures without a hundred people...

We loved everything about this hotel. It is an old palace, so the steps are worn from centuries of people walking up them. i stayed in the hotel fifteen years ago in a little room off of one of the alleyways, and this time, our rooms were right on the Grand Canal--front and center! With both stays, I can't say...

We made reservation to stay at Hotel Danieli for 5 days  during Venice Film Festival in Aug. We particularly made advance reservation at Hotel Danieli's restaurant because we are arriving during the film festival and it's usually chaos. So I was sent a restaurant confirmation from the hotel through email. Then few wks later I get a rather cold email...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
