When you look for a bed&BREAKFAST,please go somewhere else, I warn you!Bedroom is ok,breakfast is NOT.When we arrived we had to pay cash and then we didn't see the owner anymore. We had to prepare our breakfast ourselves, but there wasn't much to prepare. No bread, only dry coockies and some marmelade. Dishes and cover in plastic! You have to share the... More

My review is based on what easy books web site advertises. When we arrived you have to call the manager who took 30 min to arrive while we sat outside with our luggage! When we got to our room even though we booked a double it was 2 single beds, there was NO aircon and july is hot in Venice,... More

This hotel is great, the best solution for a few days in Venice and with the lost price found! The location is near everthing and stays only 30 minutes walking from San Marco.

"Ancient Venice" has been our home for 3 days. And it was a brilliant experience to live in the real Venezian 500-years-old house keeping all memories and old stories of last centuries. The room was nice and clean. From our window we could see the San Barnaba Church and campo San Barnaba - a beautiful place in the heart of... More

Party of two Americans who have traveled extensively through Europe--stayed for a weekend at beginning of June. First measure of inconvenience: we were required to wire money ahead of time to the owner as a deposit. Owner does not accept credit card, yet still requires a deposit. Bank deposit is the only way to do this, then, and then you... More

My husband and I traveled to various cities in Italy with friends, another couple. Our stay in Venice was made so memorable because of Paolo at Ancient Venice. He made us feel so at home and relaxed. The place was really clean and had all the amenities we could need or want. Paolo gave us lots of tips of places... More

We made a reservation via Venere.com and received a confirmation from Paolo last February. We mentioned to him that our arrival time would be 9:30pm and requested for luggage storage after checking-out. Now that our trip is nearing, almost a week away, we send him a reminder about the arrangements made earlier. Paolo replies that he cannot check us in... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
