This hotel located right on the canal in Santa Croce was a dream. If house and garden was available in the renaissance this would be in the front cover. Oh so very elegant and the lovely lady at the desk was so very gracious. Our bags had not arrived from the airport and we had an eleven day cruise ahead...

The hotel has a lot of charm and is pretty will maintained. The location is incredible - across the Grand Canal from the train station. The breakfast was pretty good, and the people who work there are super nice. The only negatives were: our junior suite was super, duper small. It's always a challenge traveling with 2 children, but there...

Dear Mrs. Aeron N., we thank you very much for your nice review and we really hope to welcome you back in the future! We do apologize for the restaurant which was not open, we normally book the restaurants by phone (this way we are sure that they are open) but probably we did not book you and that's why...

It was our first trip to Venice and I could not have asked for a better experience. From the moment we were greeted, it felt as warm as home, with all the service one would expect of a fine hotel. The location was perfect, the room was elegant yet comfortable, and I would definitely stay there again.

I really love this hotel....we stayed here in 2011 and again Nov 2016. I have to say the service is really excellent...everyone was so helpful and welcoming. We had a tiny glitch and they bent over backwards to remedy the problem. We aren't demanding people...too much attention makes us uncomfortable. The staff here is the best ! The rooms...clean and...

We only stayed here for one night, but it was one amazing night! Our room was gorgeous with a TV built into the mirror! Ramone at the front desk gave us two incredible restaurant recommendations and the breakfast was delicious. The hotel is also right near the train station, but you will need to hire a porter to get your...

Beautiful hotel on the Grand Canal. Quaint and elegant. Wonderful reception. We were offered an upgrade for a nominal fee. The room had a private deck overlooking the canal. Service was five star. We took a water taxi from the airport directly to the hotel. Great breakfast.

What a gem. We couldn't have been more comfortable or pleased with the staff. Great location with easy access to the train station, insulated from the hustle & bustle of the Rialto and San Marcos crowds. Many great dining options within 10 minute walk. Breakfast was outstanding. Don't hesitate to book a room here!

Beautiful Hotel in great location. Our room had 2 windows overlooking the canal and that was an incredible experience. Staff was great. From check-in to check out all staff we had contact with were great - very pleasant and helpful. Private taxi (boat) for 3 people was worth the extra $. We hope to return in the future !

Wonderful boutique hotel with fantastic staff. We traveled with my wife, 18 month old and parents and we had a lovely two bedroom suite. The host staff from check in through restaurant and house maid were so lovely. Everyone was so warm, treated us as family and were remarkably accommodating! The hotel and staff made our Venice travel experience!!

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
