Living in this place is like living in antique store, everything there has a history, starting with the house and ending with bed you are sleeping on. You can spend whole day discovering inside the house. Not only AP is unique place but it has unique hosts, what a pleasure. Here is important tip how to get there from VCE...

This is a bit of a hike from the bus/train/boats and can easily be missed, if you're not careful. Though if you are looking, there is a banner hanging higher on the building to assist. Giorgia was available to check in and went over everything. She provides water and some basics (tea, coffee, biscuits) for anytime access, which is nice....

My partner and I stayed Ap after a conference in San Giorgio Island,We loved our stay, the location is in a local neighborhood , about 7-8 mins walk to main train station, restaurants and cafes just outside the gate. The room itself is very quiet , we both had good night sleeps. Enjoyed talking to the owner in her beautiful...

When booking in Venice you can spend ages on the net - DON'T. Choice Antico Portego and you won't be disappointed. From the railway station this is a easy walk; and it is also close to everything Venice has to offer. It was our family trip to Italy. The last day we chose to visit Venice. One day is not enough, but if you want to feel the atmosphere, Antico Portego is the right place. Excellent location, cosy atmosphere, kind stuff, clean and quiet room. Everything you need to feel Venice, is at Antico Portego!

beautiful b&b, charming rooms (ours had a terrace), wonderful breakfast and great location. The owners were so helpful and informative, they are the BEST! Close to two vaporettos, away from the crowds by san marco and super easy to get to from train station! We hired a porter at train station to bring our bags - it was great idea.

We had a wonderful stay with our family of 4 in this beautifully restored historical palace. The bathroom was bright, modern and clean, the room was spacious and charming, the breakfast was plentiful with many choices and the fresh cappuccino was delish! Our teen girls slept on the sofa bed which was extremely comfortable with a memory foam style mattress....

Our room, Stella, was beautifully decorated and furnished and was perfect for us. The area where the hotel is located is very quiet in the evenings, which made our stay so much more peaceful. Giorgio and Enrico were extremely hospitable, nothing was too much trouble and their introduction, when we arrived was perfect. Their local knowledge and ability to explain...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
