We recently stayed at Antonio's apartment for two nights (June 13-15). It's actually sharing the apartment with him. He lives at one side and you have the room on the other side. The room was huge with a king size bed. The deco was very tasteful with a lot of characters. There's also a beautiful and pretty big balcony adjacent...

Myself and my friend stayed here last week. I had never stayed in a b&b before so didn't know what to expect. Lots of stairs to our room but we were greeted by Antonio who was lovely. Our room was big with our own bathroom outside the door. We had our own balcony which late afternoon was a sun trap....

A spacious room, with your own, private bathroom on the top floor of an old building. This does mean walking up some steep stairs, which could be a hassle with a lot of luggage or if your not very mobile. Large and very comfortable double bed and in the morning a lovely Italian breakfast is waiting for you, prepared by...

The room is just perfect with a nice balcony, and Antonio is a perfect host: he would do anything he can to help, giving among others great tips on walks and things to do in town. Perfect location too, since the station is 10 minutes away, and the waterbus to the airport is around the corner. I'll definitively come again!

On this particular trip to Venice, I wanted to have the experience to live as a local, and this was the perfect way to do it. Alle Guglie B&B is perfectly situated in the ancient city. It is possible to walk everywhere from this central spot. Antonio (the host) provided a great bed, clean linens, nice breakfast and a comfortable...

Although we never stayed at the B&B due to it already being booked, Antonio, our very gracious host, arranged for us to stay in an apartment just below. WOW, we had an entire apartment to ourself, and even though Antonio arranged breakfast goodies for us (Yoghurts, croissants, breads etc) there where so many incredible places to eat within in minutes...

Your own private, huge, balcony, a spacious room, and a wonderful host. It's like having your own place, in the very heart of Venice! Great amenities, and location, coupled with a knowledgeable host who can answer all your questions, really? what more could you ask for?

The B&B was very close to the waterbus station Guglie and hence, getting around Venice is rather convenient from the B&B. The room was comfortable and clean. The toilet was located just outside the room and clean as well. The breakfast served by the host was plentiful with fresh bread, yoghurt, cereal and drinks etc. One thing which we didn't...

We stayed here for 4 nights recently and we are so glad we did. I loved the location which was well away from St Mark's (it was still very easy to walk to that area) but still busy and so convenient for the train station, vaporetto, etc. Antonio is a great host who is prepared with his recommendations when you...

Stayed at Alle Guglie B&B for one night during 10 days traveling through Italy. The host, Antonio, was wonderful and accommodating. He gave us tips on dining and destinations and is very knowledgeable on everything in Venice. He also has tons of books available if you want to read up on sites in Venice or the history. The location is...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.

Cozy and elegant bed and breakfast in the historic center of VeniceThe B&B is located in the quarter of Cannaregio, a part of the city that offers an authentic taste of Venetian life and little-known artistic gems.Only a five-minute walk from the train station, within fifteen minutes of Saint Mark's Square, and even closer to the ancient Jewish Ghetto, this lovely loft is a great base to explore the city on foot and by boat, and to embark towards the history-laden islands of Murano (with its world-famous glass makers), Burano and Torcello. ... more   less

“There is quite a steep flight of steps to get into the apartment, but not unmanageable. If you do have heavy luggage you may battle a bit as the stairway is narrow, but trust me, once you there, you will feel right at home. If you can, stay there from a Monday to Thursday. It get INSANELY busy over the weekends. You can barely move in the town.”
