I stayed here for 3 nights. The room was clean but had an unusual smell (probably a Venice thing though - damp). The bed was uncomfortable (I was unable to sleep the first night because of this) and the pillows were hard. Also, the safe didn't work and the shower didn't drain well. The location is brilliant, 1 minute walk... More

The room was great. The location was great. Staff were average and take ages to book you in. Seem like they are doing a million things at once. Breakfast was really poor with very little choice. For the money I expected better.

If you want to stay close to St Mark's and the Rialto and you want easy access from either the Airport or Railway station then this hotel is a reasonable option, but beware that the rooms are not all located in the same building as reception and the breakfast included is average at best an at least when we stayed... When booking this hotel I was a little unsure as I had read some negative reviews. But I can honestly say ignore them ! Myself and boyfriend stayed here for 1 night , the hotel was very clean and tidy , but the main point of this hotel was the location you are literally a 2 second walk from the... More

Travelled here in April 2016 with husband & teenage daughter. The location is perfect, bang in the middle of everything. It's a 3 star hotel, so expect a 3 star hotel. (Not sure why people pay for 3 star and moan that it does not come with 5 star trimmings....aaargh!). We came for a long weekend for sightseeing, so only... More

I stayed there just one night for business , it s really in the centre of Venice , it has also a nice restaurant. The room was clean and has nice furniture , staff was helpful and friendly. PS: There is a restaurant opposite the hotel which is one of the best restaurants.

The location of this hotel is great! I was able to walk outside of my hotel room and have access to many restaurants that were right there. The hotel room is not connected to the lobby, but they had someone carry my bags and show me to my room. It was very clean and smelled wonderful. It was a bit... More

When we checked into this hotel the male receptionist hardly had time for us as he was too busy talking to a friend or work colleague! The room was decorated in typical Venetian style which was quite nice but did feel dated and was on the small side. If you enjoy your breakfasts then this hotel is definately not for... More

3 families from UK & USA - The hotel was well run, friendly staff and met our needs & Comfort. The old Venetian decoration, furniture and beds was a change from the modern purpose build hotels & everyone loved it. the location was just right, easy reach to pop in for cooling down, shower, nap especially in the afternoon when... The rooms are actually nice! But they are not located near the lobby, something most of the reviews complaint about. The hostess told us this is because all the buildings are historical and they can't build a proper hotel. That being said the room is hard to find but after all this, it's a central location and kinda nice. However... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
