We travel with our granddaughter and we were given a two bedroom suite (room 8) very comfortable with a full kitchenette and a nice living room with a great view. The convenience of having a small grocery store to buy fresh fruits and drinks any time during the day. I was warned that good hotels in Venice were very very...

This place rocks, it was conveniently located about 5 minutes from Brasilia di San Marco Square. Everything was perfect, friendly staff, awesome large apartment with private terrace overlooking the busy side canal. Restaurants and bars were also conveniently nearby. The staff on our late arrival told us the recommended price for the water taxi and also ordered our taxi on...

Great place to stay. Very good location, friendly staff, nice room (actually is an apartment, the kitchen is well equipped and they even have salt/pepper/oil etc with was very helpful and a great touch). Our room had a very nice view for the backyard and is a easy walk to the main places in Venice. I have absolutely nothing to...

Place ok, basic - big issue with rubbish disposal. Major thing here is NOT to get the apartment management to order you a private taxi from the airport - should cost 110€ but was charged 140€ ! Also very very noisy-- neighbours shout a lot and place is on a walk through - so loads of people going by. Stay...

I could not imagine better stay in Venice. 10 min walk to St.Marco square, and still very authentic location. Supermarket right over the bridge in front of the apartment. We even were lucky to get a balcony with the channel view. If you prefer total silence, maybe better to choose upper floors. However, I felt myself comfortable with all passing...

We had a great stay at Corte Nova. We stayed in the largest apartment, which is very spacious. It is in a residential neighborhood, but is still 5 minutes or so from San Marco and two vaporetto stops. The furnishings are comfortable but the overall feel of the apartment is a little spartan. The kitchen is well equipped and very...

Well located, very close to Venice main attractions and a bit remote from the crowd at the same time. Our apartment (no 1. on the 1st floor) was large, comfortable, very spacious with high ceilings, and perfectly clean. I would recommend this one as it offers great views on the canal from the living room balcony. Every room has plenty...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
