My husband and I stayed at the Ruzzini Palace for 3 days to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. This was our second booking at the Ruzzini Palace. We have definitely found our perfect hotel. The setting is superb, the rooms excellent and the service first class. The breakfasts are a delight – to include chilled Prosecco! All the staff made... More

This was an amazing hotel. The staff were very helpful and could not do enough for us. The hotel was very close to all the main attractions 10 minutes walk from ST Marks. There are plenty of resturants in the area. We stayed for 4 nights and it was always a pleasure to return to the hotel and unwind in... More

This was our first trip to Italy and our first stop. We pre-paid for the transport from the airport. I highly recommend this especially if it's your first time. HOTEL: (2 nights) Very nice, room was beautiful with marble floors. Separate sitting room. (I'll post pics) View wasn't great but we didn't spend much time in the room. You get... More

We chose this hotel for our homeymoon and it was absolutely perfect!!! We were treated like royalty, the staff couldn't do enough for us. The room was large, clean and beautifully furnished. We had a fabulous view of venice from our balcony, and chilled champayne on our arrival. The cocktails at the bar were fantastic and the breakfast had so... More

My husband and I stayed at Ruzzini Palace, Venice which is in a handy location within easy walking distance of San Marco, Rialto Bridge, the vaporetta stops, cafes and a supermarket. Our room was not an expensive one and although located right next to the reception desk it was extremely quiet and was large, clean and very nicely furnished. The... More

A one night stay at the end of our MSC cruise provided us with an experience that we shall not forget. From arrival at the door by water taxi to our departure the following day, the staff could not have been more helpful or courtious. Our room was fabulous and the buffet breakfast very good. An ideal venue from which... More

When we booked for one night in Venice, we were impressed with this hotel online. They were a pleasure to deal with via email ahead of our visit and I wanted a five star experience so I didn't mind the substantial cost of the hotel. The location was wonderful, not too close or too far from the crowds and sites.... More

Had a great 2 night stay in the junior suite overlooking the piazza. It was glorious to open the huge windows and shutters and gaze out on the Venetian night. A truly storybook experience. Wec were quite pleased with the staff and cleanliness of the hotel. If you are looking for the quintessential Venitian experience, look no further.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
