Based in a quiet peaceful square this lovely old Venetian hotel is the ideal place to relax and yet is only a five minute walk from St Marks Square, Rialto Bridge and all the restaurants and bars. Beautiful rooms and friendly attentive staff add to the overall 'feelgood' factor. The hotel also has an entrance and landing stage at the...

Close enough to the areas you want to be yet slightly a bit off the tourist track... not that that's a bad thing. We were in room 105 for 2 nights. The hotel was clean and the staff were accommodating. I guess i expected a little more of the boutique ambiance, however, the rooms seemed quite dated and just typical....

Fantastic position and one of the oldest Palace's in Venice its beautiful inside . The position of this hotel makes it possible to reach most of Venice hot spots easily through narrow lanes and over beautiful bridges. We stayed in the top of the house room 402 over looking the Campo Santa Maria Formosa. The staffs are extremely helpful and...

A perfect Venice experience . Authentic, beautiful, great location, friendliest service. A mix of ancient feeling and modern comfort. Very good value for the price and quality of this elegant palace. We'll be back for sure either for a weekend trip or a longer stay.

We recently stayed for 6 nights at the Ruzzini Palace. We got an incredible deal for round trip airfare (via Lisbon) and the hotel with breakfast on EXPEDIA. I don't think I would have selected this hotel at a normal price, but we enjoyed our stay. The staff was pleasant and they spoke English. We booked a standard double and...

Dear Guest, thank you for your time in writing thiis lovely review; unfortunatel we missed the fifth star in your rating due to an outside mistake; the "Loud Party" in front of the Hotel. This was something unusual and out of our control, but we were happy to know you understood it. We thank you also for appreciating our efficient...

Staff excellent but make sure when requesting a room you don't get one in the attic. No view what so ever ( unless you stand on a chair) and you cannot turn the heating down. It was one degree Celsius outside, we had the window open all night and it was still too hot.

Dear Guest, we thank you for your review; first of all, we remind that booking an entry level room you cannot have a "spectacoular view" or a balcony. you will get a classic double room as stated on the reservation. We are not obliged to upgrade all time. Sometime the Hotel is full or an upper cathegory is not available...For...

This hotel occupies an old palace and is flanked by both a canal and a piazza. It is romantic arriving by water taxi straight in the hotel foyer and welcomed by reception who offer you a lovely glass of prosecco. The rooms are spacious and well appointed though there is not really enough space in the cupboard for two to...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
