We were given a frosty but efficient welcome in this prime location hotel on Orta lake. Our superior room had no lake view and was small but we didn't feel like arguing about it. The following morning we were amongst the first down to breakfast where we were met by two elderly scowling ladies They had set tables as far...

Hell to get to. Don't bother calling to ask for directions, they will get you more lost than gps. Once you park your car in lot, it's a downhill bumpy walk. That means it's an uphill bumpy walk back to your car dragging luggage and anything else you accrued. Booking site says there would be a refrigerator in room. There...

Lovely comfortable room in a nice hotel, superb waterfront location in a beautiful town. Super views across the lake to Isola d'Orta. Hotel restaurant is OK but there are many better eateries very close by. Note that the hotel is located in a traffic-free zone but you can drive to the square outside the hotel to drop off luggage -...

We had an excellent experience at this hotel and look forward to staying there again in the future. The rooms were clean and attractive with gorgeous views. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the staff was extremely cordial and helpful.

A family run hotel in a stunning location, right by the lake. Excellent food, top wine list and friendly team - from Mama downwards! only drawbacks are car parking - neither easy nor close - and rock hard bed.

The hotel is in the main square Piazza Motte and sits right on the lakeside overlooking the island of San Giulio and is a lovely old and quirky building with little nooks and corridors. It is beautifully furnished and decorated with interesting furniture, rich fabrics and wall papers. We booked a comfort room (202), with balcony overlooking the lake, direct...

Very nice hotel on Lake Orta. We had a view of the lake. Breakfast was very good. Dinner was a bit disappointing as we had stayed there 3 years before and thought the food was much better. We felt a bit uncomfortable with Mama "micromanaging" the staff. No one seemed very happy working there. However, we enjoyed ourselves and would...

It was my third visit to Orta San Giulio and was sad to discover that one of the two old hotels on the square, facing the island of San Giulio, was now an abandoned and sad building. Luckily, on the opposite side of the square still stands the Albergo Ristorante Leon d'Oro, run by the same family since time immemorial....

Great location, just on the lake. The breakfast is good but normal italian not cooked breakfast. The air conditioner was not working properly, it was on but wouldnt cool the room. No internet unless you pay and it works only in the lobby (?). Really bad based on the fare you pay for a room here. The room had a...
