Detailed Reviews
My only problem in my stay in this hostel was that there are roommates who were very inconsiderate. I felt that as if they didn't care that there is another Person in the room. Just for example, Packing out their stuffs in the night when You are already sleeping- noise of plastic bags and zippers, Doors that Open and Close. Why couldn't they be careful Not to make Noise. My first night was terrible. Next night was okey. Third night was still okay but the fourth night was worst. I came in the evening from tiring day, the room door was opened. Before that I saw a guy came out. I closed the door. Somebody Knocked the door because he can't Open it. I said where's your Key. He said He is a friend of One of my roommates. But I didnt let him come in. I said to com if he wants to Talk to bis Friend then he Has to do it somewhere Else. I do not know the rules of the hostel but what I said was Logical. When i was lying on my bed there were other People passing by. My bed is near the door. There are roommates who do Not Care to Close the door. In the night i have rise up to Open the door for a roommate. Some of them were drunk. They came in and out and left the door open. They were drinking inside the room. O did not day anything. I just keep silent and waited until it is morning.
I only Need a Place to Sleep and wash and nothing Else. The place is Clean. Bedsheets are Clean and my bed was comfortable.
I do Not know if they have rules regarding Noise and privacy.
The Location of the Hostel was also okay. I took the Tram going to other places in the City.
I still recommend this hostel even if I have Problem with my roommates. I was Not maybe Lucky that Time. You have to put on the beddings yourself. You pay 2 Euro per day for Tax.

Notwithstanding the positive reviews on TripAdvisor, I was a bit sceptical before arriving at this place. However, my doubts turned out to be misguided. The hostel is modern, large and clean, and the beds were likewise clean and comfortable enough for me to sleep comfortably for the 2 nights I was in Milan. There was fast free WiFi and the value for money, considering the measly amount of money we spent, was excellent.
However, I must say I was quite disappointed by the service offered by the receptionists. They were adequate at best but unfriendly and dismissive otherwise, on occasions outright refusing to help with some of our difficulties. I was also far from pleased to note that there are no bathrooms on the second floor, apart from the fact that the first floor bathroom lights were not working at the time, causing huge inconvenience.
Still, I was overall happy enough with the hostel and I would go there again.

Before booking this hostel in Milan, I hadn't stayed at a Milan hostel in years because there were no good ones. This hostel is in a nice suburb of Milan away from the tourist crowds. There is a subway stop a few blocks away. There are plenty of restaurants and stores nearby. Checkin went smooth. I was in a 4 bed room but the way its configured its almost 2 to a room because there were 2 beds in one room and 2 beds in a connected room. Each side had its own bathroom. The room had a small refrigerator and a good-sized wooden locker. My lock was broke so I couldn't use but I didn't really need it anyway. The hostel has a large kitchen and wifi. The hostel met my expectations. I would stay there again.

Someone broke the locker and stole from into the room my computer, credit card and money. Nobody took care of anything, not even wanted to call the police, I had to go to the police station by myself at midnight. I suspect someone has stolen the Hostel because they would not help me at all. the recepcionist did not want to help me at all...
They would not tell me who was sleeping in my room and They would not show me the videos of security cameras...
It may be the cheapest, but I advise you to pay a few more euros and avoid this situations.

This hostel offers nothing for being a guest. You have to pay for every thing including luggage storage which is 4 euro per page. No early check in even if the room is available. It's not very close to anything you have to ride the metro else where and the staff is completely unhelpful.

The neighborhood this is hostel is in just gave us a shock. Nothing is close by, you need to take the metro to any place of interest. The streets are dirty, people give you wry looks and waiters and staff in the Restaurants are sometimes weird. We arrived at the hostel hoping it wouldn't blend in with the neighborhood but it did perfectly. The staff not very friendly (not unfriendly either though) and yes, you have to pay for everything....I'm surprised that you can use the toilets for free. I mean come on - €4 for holding my luggage? That's not how one makes fans ...
Just a very unpleasant atmosphere so we decided to stay somewhere else instead. Go there on your own risk.

Response from NewGenerationHostel, Responsabile relazioni con la clientela at New Generation Hostel Urban Citta Studi

Hello "the_logod"! thank you very much for taking the time to send us your feedback, but we are sorry you had a bad impression in any restaurant in the area and for this reason you have decided not to stay in our hostel. If you had stayed with us you could try and enjoy our hospitality: we try to offer the best comfort with prices don't fear any comparison in Milan! ... and we believe you'd even changed his mind about the neighborhood: most guests say that the locals are very friendly and cheap ;-) sincerely, NGH's Team

Having stayed at dozens of hostels all over the world New Generation Urban Hostel is like nothing I have ever experienced before, and not in a likeable way.
Pros:
Cheap and the bathroom on our four bed room was excellent
Cons:
My biggest gripe is the rental and fines system. Everything needs to be rented, right down to the cutlery. I can understand people paying a deposit for bedding (20 euros) but to charge people for cutlery rental when you don't even offer breakfast seems a bit out there.
Also the fines are ridiculious. A large board greets you at reception with a list of rules and it documents how much you will be fined if you break these rules. Accidently leave your key in the lock? 50 euros please. Leave your door open? 30 euros.
Hostels are supposed to feel like home, I don't recall being fined or charged a rental for everything growing up.
Staff were indifferent at the best of times, no real friendliness or genuine welcome. Check in was a pain due to a mountain of paperwork that needed to be filled out, though I understand this is standard in Italy and not just for New Gen.
The rooms have a very odd set up with an a) and b) organisation. So if you are staying in a 4 bed dorm it's actually two different rooms, room 4a and 4b. While this was convenient for my girlfriend and I it creates a very odd and intrusive feel as there is a non lockable door between you and the other part of the room. We never even met our room mate as such, though he could have readily come in at any time.
If they ditched the fines and rental and got some friendlier staff this hostel would be one of the best. For now it's one of those that I won't be going back to.

Hostel Urban PROs: extremely clean, organised, relatively cheap, very honest and fair about what is and is not included, good location, great 4 person rooms, comfortable pillow and mattress, great soundproofing, each bed has a locker, a power outlet and a nightlight, serviced by a lift. Good area too... I recommend Cafe Solo on via Pacini for your breakfast coffee and brioche... tell Lorenz that the girl from Malta says hi :p
CONs: some receptionists more friendly than others, very narrow shower and changing area with no hooks or stools to place clothes
...Would definitely return!

Siamo arrivati in famiglia. I ragazzi della reception sono poco educati e per niente cortesi. La pulizia della stanza era terribile! Inguardabile. La doccia era sporca, peli e zanzare da per tutto.
Non ci tornerei. Lo sconsiglio.
We went to this "do It by yourself" hostel and stayed for 1 night. The receptionist were rude and did not give us information in regards the city, metro station, etc. The bath was a mess, so dirty and disgusting. We Will never come back again.

You need to take a bus from Malpensa to Milan Central Station and from there take the metro and stop at the Station close to the hostel and walk.
Yes you can book online, try the hostelbookers website or booking . com and search for the hostel and the card may work better on those sites Hope that helps!
