Location was perfect, walking distance to Duomo, the Castle, Brera, the fashion district. I had a terrace room which was wonderful, lovely plants and comfortable furniture made it a great place to relax with some wine after a long day of sightseeing. They even sell the wine there so no need to find a store. Room itself was nice as...

We stayed there in August when the weather was quite hot and humid. A nice, cool room awaited out return each day after each outing. The room was large, and comfortable. If you're looking for super fancy, look elsewhere. The desk personnel could not have been more helpful. Breakfast was practically amazing (I am not a breakfast eater), and included...

Hidden behind the enormous green door of an eighteenth century building, and up a flight of old, stone steps, the Locanda Dei Mercanti is a charming, boutique hotel in the heart of Milan. The location is fantastic, just steps from the Via Dante, quite near two Metro stops, and an easy walk from the Cadorna train station. It's a pleasant...

I contacted this hotel prior to arrival as it was the first stop on our honeymoon, they asked if it was possible to have a picture of me and my wife on our wedding day. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely staff and taken to our room to find the picture of us blown up and framed next...

We are a family with a three-year-old boy. We only stayed one night in Milan at the end of our holiday but I am very keen to return and would certainly recommend this hotel. It is right in the heart of the city, a very short walk from the sights. We were warned August would be dead but far from...

This small hotel is very conveniently located. Excellent breakfast. Large room, bare bones, clean as a whistle. Very helpful and polite staff. Would stay there again. Lots of good restaurants within walking distance. Close to Duomo and galleria

First we thought we had the wrong address, but then we realised that the hotel is only part of the building and that the reception desk is on the first floor and everything was fine :-) The hotel staff was extremely friendly and immensely helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and tastefully furnished. And of course the location is unbeatable!...

We stayed in this hotel for two nights this summer ( july 8&9th), and couldn't believe how convenient it was for the many sights and shopping of this wonderful city. The room and service were excellent and we would definitely stay here again.

A small and very friendly hotel tucked away in a side street so it is quiet, but only 2 minutes from the pedestrianised Via Dante and close to the Duomo and Castello Sforza. Great service from everyone we met. Comfortable room and bathroom is fine, but the highlight is the terrace with sofa, table and chairs - what a pleasure...

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Locanda is an unexpected oasis of peace and quiet in Milan’s frenetic city centre. The elegant 18th century building is in a pedestrian area dedicated to shopping.Once you arrive you can forget your car – you’re in the very heart of Milan, close to La Scala opera house, the Duomo, the Stock Exchange, and the famous designer stores on via Monte Napoleone and via della Spiga. The décor is the creation of architect Vittorio Locatelli, who loves combining refined warm pastel hues with rough, natural materials, following his fancy wherever it takes him. His intention was to furnish the Locanda so that people would feel they were at home. He designed four suggestive rooms, each with a beautiful flower-filled terrace, a rare occurrence in a city like Milan. The atmosphere throughout is pleasant and relaxed, and prompt personalised service is guaranteed. ... more   less
