I agree with Kay from Edinburgh entirely.Room average but did have two sinks which was nice as four of us staying in there. Area was a bit grotty & we were reluctant to venture out after dark with kids. Saying that I'm sure we would have been fine as didn't feel unsafe at any time here, only when we got... More

An average hotel situated 1 min walk from Central Station which was its only real benefit. The area at night has a dodgy feel about it with prostitues and gangs of men on various street corners, in daylight it feels safer. Cheaper and tasty restaurants in this area compared to the city centre. The hotel itself is fine, comfortable and... More

It's in the average of 3 stars hotel, the only surprise is the wi-fi connection for free at the first fllor! Even if u have a room at an higher floor, just bring your pc there and u can confortably be sitting and check on the net as much time as u need! Room was big and clean. It's very... More

The previous reviewers comments are very fair and accurate. I'm not sure what makes this hotel 3 star, but 2 star does seem more fitting. The appearance isn't much but it is clean. The hotel staff we found to be friendly. The location is conveniently next to the train station, however this is also bad as there are number of... More

After reading last year's reviews I nearly cancelled my reservation at the Monopole. Yes, the corridors are depressing and the en-suite bathroom has a run-down appearance. On the other hand I did not have high expectations for a Eur 55 hotel in the centre of Milan, close to the main station. Contrary to some earlier reports I found the staff... More

A few steps from the central station of Milan and the Metro (subwaystation), friendly staff, yummie breakfast, thin walls (you better pray for quiet neighbours!!), if anything is wrong with your room, they fix it immediatly, and at arrival you get a tourist paper with interesting things to see, places to go, and a very good map of milan centre... This hotel is practical because it is beside the main station in Milan and not very expensive (avg Euro 55 per night.) It is perfect if you have an early morning flight from one of Milan's airports the next morning because shuttle buses leave to the airports from the other side of the main station (5 mins walk from the... I bet with you that the good reviews were "contributed" by the hotel's staff. I have only been to worse hotels in India. This hotel is not clean, the staff at receptions is very rude and they do not really care for the guests. (the one guy there looks like Tony Soprano…..) The elevator is only at the first floor,... Neighbourhood Profile
Stazione Centrale
Central Station represents a bridge towards the future. Impressive skyscrapers and new age buildings stretch the skyline with the majestic Unicredit Tower cutting through. Surrounding it are large towers that define Piazza Gae Aulenti, where the fountain and the Monumento Trombe leave one breathless. A famous building of the district is the Vertical Forest, where the innovative materials and trees planted on the terraces are a unique mix of nature and man-made construction. In the district, there is the Monumental Cemetery, known for its antique tombs with sculptures portraying angels of commemorative scenes many will find touching.
