The first time I stayed at the Eremo Gaudio there were no lower rooms. When I arrived after a hot train ride from Milan I was spellbound by the view from the upper terrace. It was twilight and the color over the lake and surrounds was the most magical blue. I returned two years later to find things had changed...

Location is all it has,, we have been there 3 times, but no more. The owner is laughing all the way to the bank, hasn't done any improvements since our first visit 10 years ago, including the old faded bedspreads. The location is incredible, but that's it. Terrible decor, cheap, cheap partical board funiture, ok breakfast. It's such a shame...

We chose Eremo Gaudio for a much-needed, relaxing conclusion to a month-long trip to Europe. We spent 4 nights at the hotel, recharging our batteries after 3 weeks of touring France, and before braving a return to Milan. Our room was in the lower level, which seems to have been recently remodelled. The room was simple, but very comfortable. The...

We were here for a friend's wedding. The wedding was beautiful for sure, as the hotel overlooks the lake and mountains. Our room was on the top floor and had a sweet juliette balcony. The furniture was average. They turn the a/c off in the rooms the end of September regardless of the temp, so beware. The nights were lovely...

We stayed in the lower level which had a minimal amount of room ammenities, but we had a terrace big enough to entertain 10 people, 2 chairs and a table - and an incredible view. Bed pillows were the hardest I have encountered anywhere in the world. Floors were well-swept but badly needed mopping, just wiping up the floor after...

Stayed here for one night. Staff seemed very unpleasant. Room's AC did not work so we left the windows open and delt with a few Mosquitos. Walls are paper thin and we were unlucky enough to be in a lower room, on the side under the main lobby, which becomes extremely noisy in the early morning.

We stayed two nights in a room in the lower section, right next to the terrace bar. The noise was not an issue and a plus for us was that we could sit on our terrace and use the free wifi. Our room was very spartan but clean and comfortable. The view was just magnificent. Be prepared for a steep...

We stayed for 3 nights in September at the lower level. Unfortunately we never took the lift up to the upper level, I wished we had, as many of the reviewers here raved about it so much. Our room was very nice, a good value for what we paid. I really liked our room. It had had decent AC, a...

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights at the eremo gaudio in august, 2011. I have to say that we thoroughly enjoyed it. Talk about "a room with a view", it was the most beautiful and breathtaking place i have ever been. The hotel room, ours was a superior with lake views, was really comfortable with air con, fridge...

We stayed in the Teodelinda Suite in the top section of the hotel. The suite was basic, but large, cool and comfortable. The balcony was also large and would have benefited with sun lounges. The view was to die for. Standing on the terrace, gazing at the water and mountains beyond, listening to the church bells..... Makes life worth living!!...
