We are going to Italy in July'19 with friends. We reserved 3 rooms from this hotel two months ago and paid all the amount in advance. But the hotel canceled the reservation of our room yesterday without any explanation. And they have said, they will pay our money back. Are you kidding? When i check, i see that the room rates have been increased. How can it be? If you reserve early, you get lower prices, this is how it works. The hotel should not have the right to cancel the paid resevation when it finds a higher price customer. We have to stay at a different hotel from our friends now and all the prices have been increased since we had reserved this hotel.

Wanted to run away when we arrived at the location. Owner wrote us a few hours beforehand asking when we would arrive, but we were driving the car and didn't receive the email. When we got to the location, we could reach him or get in. We almost left but convinced the bar owner next to the place to call him. While I was ticked off because while looking for the phone number, found out that the room I paid over $200 Euros was now $105 Euros...we got past that. The owner was actually helpful. We were ready to run away given the absolutely horrible exterior... to the totally renovated lovely interior. What a surprise...totally clean, great shower, great bed, modern, lovely. Not sure what to say, if you can get over the outside, it's lovely - though not sure it's worth the price.

This place lives up to its reviews and pictures. They've done a beautiful job of creating modern hotel rooms inside an old building. The location is great; it's right in the centre of everything with a large open market across the street where you can buy fresh fruit and bread. Italians love outside in the warm months, and it's a tourist town, so you'd expect heat and noise in this old building. However, the inner windows are completely soundproof and the air-conditioning works a treat when they are shut. The bathroom is great with two types of showerhead (powerful rain from above, and a handheld unit). Hot water is plentiful and the controls work perfectly so you can adjust to exactly how you like it. There's a wee fridge in the room woth free water bottles in it. Also a kettle and very nice quality tea bags including herbal teas, plus complimentary coffee pods to use in their coffee machine (which is in reception). A few things to note: The description includes breakfast but I never did figure out how that was supposed to work. They have a breakfast room with nothing in it. They don't provide milk for your coffee or tea. Buy your own on the way and pop it in the fridge. There is lift access but it is an old narrow lift so not suitable for wheelchairs.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights and I'm sure that I don't want to come back, neither to the hotel and to the city. We went to La Spezia to go to Cinque Terre, that it is a wonderful place to go. We arrived on Wednesday afternoon and a girl that attender us barely could speaks English. The hotel is located on the second floor of an old building, in front of the Fish Market. The smell is disgusting. When we arrived, we wanted to pay, but the credit card machine was broken, also the wi-fi. So, we agreed to pay later. This is the last time that we saw an employee of this hotel. In the next day, there wasn't anybody to attend us on the reception desk and the wi-fi continued broken. We left in the morning to go to Cinque Terre and when we come back, the hotel was empty again. On our last day, we tried to find someone to pay the bill, but we couldn't find. We sent a message, tried to call, but nobody answer. For our lucky, we have an italian friend who got to speak italian with the owner and we realized that he didn't know about the wi-fi and the problem with credit card machine. To complete, when we woke up on our last day, we had breakfast in a place that has agreement, because the hotel is too small to have a place to serve breakfast. We tried to call a cab on this place, but the owner refused. He didn't want to call a cab for us. Nobody in this city speaks English, so if you don't know how to speak italian, you will be lost there. Several people were nice with us, but most of them didn't like us, probably because we didn't know how to speak Italian. If you want to go to Cinque Terre, don't stay in La Spezia!

Once you find the door you will probably be thinking what you have done. The entrance to the building is a bit dark and dreary, but once you get upstairs its a different world. Fully modernised to a high standard and really tasteful. Complimentary breakfast was welcomed and enough to get us started for the day. We walked from the train station in about 10min with our luggage, so not too bad. Lots of shops and cafes just around the corner and a short walk to the port. Very helpful staff.

The hotel is a converted apartment with 6 rooms and is approximately 15 minutes walk from the train station. We walked past the front door as there isn't a big sign and it looks dark on entering the main building but once inside the hotel it is bright, airy and quite modern. The hotel is opposite the market and our room had a small balcony overlooking the market. The apartment had been subdivided into the rooms so when other guests enter or have breakfast we could hear everything so felt a little conscious. Breakfast was included and was basic but nice. Great location for walking down to seafront or for getting train to cinque terre. Not a lot to see in la spezia but plenty of restaurants and bars on an evening. Although I don't think I would revisit the area the hotel was lovely and a good base

This is definitely one of those where you ignore 1st impressions. We walked past the front door twice before we saw it ,the ground floor corridor and elevator are a bit of a shock but when you arrive on the 2nd floor and meet Patricia the manager all will be revealed. There are 6 large fully renovated rooms , we were lucky enough to get rm6 , comes with a balcony overlooking coffee shops, open markets. Any questions were easily answered by Patricia, can't thank you enough for all your help in making our stay in La Spezia so enjoyable. Urban Chic is locate in the centre of town between the train station and the ferry terminal. If you arrive by train a 10 min walk straight down the Via Del Prione , right turn into Fratelli Rosselli. There are quite a number of good eating and drinking spots within 5 mins walk.

Vert chic little B&B in the middle of La Spezia, only 6 rooms. Don't be fooled by the anonymous entrance, when you come up to second floor you will find it. Very nice rooms with design furniture an a nice bathroom. A bit simple breakfast, but ok.

La Spezia is a beautiful place and there is much to see. The location of this tiny but very nice hotel is great! Fairly close walk to the ocean and close to some of the museums and even a theatre. But if it's shopping you like this is in the heart of it. The pedestrian only walkways are full of shops but remember, they like their afternoon siestas spoof you find a lot of them closed it's probably mid afternoon and will only be closed only for a few hours. We were really shocked when we first walked into the hotel (was hard to find and not clearly marked on the front door). There are only 6 rooms and they are located on the second floor. Once inside the hotel it was clean, well lit, and the staff were really nice. The rooms were pretty good with all the regular necessities but as per usual the beds are just ok and the pillows are same. This is what we have found in almost all of the 10 hotels (31/2-41/2 star) we have stayed at. Wifi was average to above average. Take note! If you're a light sleeper and staying here on a weekend you might find it a bit loud as the bars are just below but we slept through the noise without a problem. Breakfast was pretty good and included unstoppable cappachinos!
