The location was fantastic. Very close to the train station and the beach. There were lots of restaurants nearby. The breakfast was great and included lots of variety. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a nice sitting area outside. The air conditioning in the room was a much needed relief in late July.

In the room I found the walls to be quite thin which made the room noisy. The hotel is older and definitely dated.

This hotel exceeded my expectations to be honest. We had a great stay: two great nights sleep (following two noisy nights in Vernazza). It is very easy to get to, 5 min walk on the flat from the station, great location. Air con was a dream. Staff were friendly on arrival, checked us in early, which allowed us to get a head start on the climb of a hike before the midday sun. There was water in the room, replenished daily. Water pressure in shower was good. It was a basic hotel in terms of finishes, but it ticks all the boxes for what you need. I would stay here again.

Advertised Four stars rating needs a large pinch of salt ! Basic and clean with friendly service. Turning around in the shower is no easy task and that’s after you have tripped over the bidet to get in 😂. I think they may have put too much in a small space !

I had a lovely stay at Hotel Palme in April. The location was perfect - close enough to the train station and town and just one building off the beach. The balcony provided a nice spot to sit and enjoy the air although it didn’t have much of a view. The room was pretty basic but fit our needs. In room coffee and a hair dryer that actually provided some air would’ve made it perfect! If you need to dry your hair bring your own hair dryer. Oh and AC as it was pretty warm while we were there (my understanding is AC isn’t turned on until a certain date in Italy and it wasn’t on yet.) The bathroom was quite small and cramped but it worked just fine for us (I’m 5 foot 6 and had to sit sort of sideways on the toilet or my legs hit the shower!).
Breakfast was great and had enough choices to make everyone in our group happy. Front desk staff was very helpful and could answer all of our questions. They were especially helpful about our hiking options. I will definitely stay here again on a future visit!

Great location a short easy walk from the station and right near the beach. The room was spacious and very well laid out for storage options. We had a double room with a sitting room and it was worth it . Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was a bit of a tight fit but recently renovated by its appearance and very clean. A good breakfast with enough choices and regular top ups was included. This could be taken inside or in the lovely garden courtyard. The staff were all delightful , helpful, welcoming and efficient. I am sorry I didn’t get the name of the lovely woman at reception but her sense of humour was very welcoming. Monterosso is a gorgeous location although often busy with crowds during the day. I would love to return for longer than 2 days and hopefully it would be to this hotel.

My wife and I were unfortunate to have a train strike on the day we should have returned to Pisa so we had to stay an extra day in Monterosso.
Our hotel in the old town was fully booked so we had to find a one night stop and we were lucky enough to find this hotel in the other area.
We needn't have worried because it was fine, nice room and breakfast and really friendly staff. Also close to station so ideal for a quick cross to Pisa airport the following morning.
Reasonable price for facilities.
No problem at all to recommend and we would stay here again if in this part of Monterosso

First, let me start with the things that I liked about this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Any request was quickly attended to. The location is just about perfect. Very close to the sea, lots of restaurants, and incredibly beautiful scenery. I liked the complimentary breakfast. There were lots and lots of choices. Lots of fruits, breads, and pasteries. There is a nice cappuccino machine. The water pressure and temperature for the sink and shower were excellent. There were plenty of outlets available in the room.

Now, let me tell you why I rated this hotel only a 3. The rooms are very plain and actually kind of shabby. There is no decoration on the walls. The tv is very small compared to most hotels. There is a refrigerator in my room, but it barely cools water lower than room temperature at the highest setting. The hairdryer in the bathroom has got to be from 1970. I have fairly thin, short hair, and it took forever to get it dry.

I hate to be mean, but the owners really need to invest some cash into this hotel. It is advertised as a 4 star hotel, but I don't see how it got that rating.

Absolutely loved staying here. The staff were very welcoming and accomodating during our stay. We also really loved the inclusive breakfast. Good quality food and a great outdoor vibe. The room was great too with perfect airconditioning (which we love) and extremely close to the beach... would definitely stay again!!

We booked here with help from an agent in Bellagio during the early part of our trip when we found all the places in our guidebook full. (We had considered just "winging it" in the Cinque Terre, and I'm glad we didn't - about 2 weeks before we went there, we started calling places and finding them full, so I went to an agent in Bellagio for help. She recommended this place, and it was a good tip.) Reasonably priced. Helpful, friendly staff -- 2 out of 3 of the front desk people were like your favorite cousin or uncle. A good place to practice your Italian (and German!), and we had fun watching soccer on the lobby TV with the staff a few evenings. Comfortable lobby and patio. Great breakfast in a large, comfy room -- some of the best pastries we've had in a long while, brought in from a local bakery. Our room had a partial view (could see water and hills). The room and bathroom were fine, but the AC was weak, which caused some lost sleep during the hot, humid nights. We actually propped our room door open to get more air flow. We really liked Monterosso, too - though I cannot deny the picturesque quality of Vernazza from the trail. We found good food and sights in both old and new Monterosso.

Just returned from a month in Italy and stayed at the Hotel Palme in Monterossa for 4 nights. The room was quite small and basic but was very clean and had all the necessities required. The hotel is situated one block off the main road and is quiet. It was nice to have parking provided directly behind the hotel. The only other option is a public lot 2 blocks away. The hotel is located in the newer part of Monterossa and away from the busy crowds of the old town which is not a bad thing when its busy. Everything is within walking distance. Cars and scooters are allowed along the main road but there is not a lot of parking.

The entire staff from housekeeping to reception were friendly and helpful. Those working reception spoke good english which helps when you don't know a word of Italian. They were always helpful and knowledgeable regarding the area or whatever you needed to know. They would always get back to you with an accurate response even if it was about another part of Italy.

Breakfast was provided and it was good. There were lots of choices including pastries, rolls, cereal, yogurt, milk, fruits, ham, cheeses, boiled eggs etc. and good coffee. There is no regular restaurant in the hotel beyond breakfast but there are many good restaurants within a short walking distance.

All in all it was good value and would recommend it to anyone travelling that way.

As others have said stay in one village and commute to others by train or trail. Some trails are often closed. Trains are quick and easy and you will get plenty of walking/hiking just visiting the villages. Monterosso has the most hotel options. All of the five villages are worth visiting.

Our advice form IC Bellagio our Italian travel agent and Italys best agents was not to drive. A car would have been waste of time and quite frankly a pain!!! . We had a car and Chauffeur into and out of Monterosso. The Hotel is perfectly located to explore the Cinque Terre and no car needed. We were advised by IC Bellagio that the Hotel Palme would disappoint compared with the standard of Hotels we are used to and they were 100% right. What it did make up for was location and ease of walking about Monterosso.
