While our first room had an inoperative air conditioner and the next 40minutes were reminiscent of a Marx Brothers movie - it was all downhill from there. The front desk staff showed me three alternatives, the breakfast and its setting was excellent. It was only a short walk to the sites. It was peacfull. A great choice.

A lovely hotel, fantastic service, charming staff, fabulously quiet suite with huge bed and great breakfast. Its location is perfect just within the inner ring road. The only (and trivial) downside were the appaling driving directions, it is nigh on impossible to find the hotel by car because of the complex one way system and the poor directions.

I confirm previous assessments. It is a very quiet place, you feel like beying in the countryside. You have breakfast in the courtyard surrounded by flowers and trees. And in 10 minutes walking you are in Piazza Maggiore. We slept in a dependance and there something can be improved, same is for food at breakfast. Overall a good place.

Cozy and friendly. Excellent service. The garden area is particularly nice. A perfect place to unwind, you will want to sit and relax here. Very charming. I would definitely stay here again. The location is very convenient and the surrounding neighborhood is very nice.

This is a charming smallish hotel in a quiet section of the old city of Bologna. I went to school here 30 years ago, know the city well, and I like this hotel better than those with more stars. Many Italian hotels tend to be modern and cold, this is warm, nicely decorated, with a gorgeous courtyard and a breakfast... More

It's easy to like the Hotel Porta San Mamolo. It's charming and well situated, an easy ten-minute walk from the city center but still within the historic part of town. So it's accessible to just about everything of interest but also quiet and peaceful. I loved hearing birds in the morning. The hotel is clean and my room was simple... More

It's true this place really is lovely! I can never be bothered to write reviews, but after my stay here, I felt compelled to let everyone know about this hotel. First off, its easy to grab a cab from the airport, it only cost us 15 euros. I travelled with my brother and mother, who are very fussy. Initially my... More

I won't repeat what all the other reviews have said except to say that their praise is definitely justified. We stayed for seven nights and the hotel is superbly placed to enjoy Bologna. The rooms, the staff and the breakfasts are splendid. It is a 10 minute walk from the centre and is thus both convenient and quiet. All the... More

This is a good hotel situated in a very narrow street and at about a 20-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore. We stayed for two nights and would stay there again if one day we return to Bologna. Our room was on the 2nd floor facing the street and it was very quiet at night. The front desk staff speaks good... More
