We stayed five nights at this beautiful hotel in Bologna. The service was outstanding during our entire stay - from the reception desk to housekeeping, all of our requests were quickly satisfied. The hotel is traditional, centrally located, and the beds are supremely comfortable. It appeared to us that this hotel hasn’t missed a beat because of Covid. The entire staff was professional and efficient. The concierge staff has a vast knowledge of restaurants in Bologna. We let them know our preferences, and they reserved a different restaurant for us each evening.
The hotel location is fabulous for being in the center of Milan. Our Staff experience was exceptional from the moment we arrived until we departed. Everyone made an effort to make us feel welcome and accommodated us in every way. The hotel truly is Majestic! I had requested cotton sheets and a bed topper to ensure our comfort. Normal sheeting is linen. I was expecting soft cotton sheeting but being the upscale hotel it is, the sheeting was not only ironed (which I love) but felt starched, which was a bit uncomfortable. Pillows were soft and lovely. Bathrooms are stunningly white and bright boasting both a large soaking tub and separate stall shower. Towels and robes were lovely. I didn’t love the wall coverings which felt to me as if I was in a Sforza Palace. Just not my taste. The furnishings were ironically similar to furnishings I purchased for my own home 30 years ago. All lovely antiques but again, just not my style anymore. Buffet breakfast was stunningly beautiful and delicious! A real delightful way to start my day! There is a super market across the street where we got little treats and had a quick meal at the bistro one evening after a very long day sightseeing. Gelato shop next door was ok, not WOW. All in all I have no fault with anything at the Majestic but I probably wouldn’t book there again on another stay in Milan.…
Overall, a very disappointing experience. Generally confused, or indifferent service - slow, inconsistent and not up to the mark; an outdated hotel both in terms of approach and facilities. Not at all value for money.
As the "top" luxury hotel in Bologna we expected much better service: 1. All recommendations by the staff were mediocre at best both for restaurants and for activities. 2. We sat for 15 minutes at the hotel bar, but were not able to get service. 3. Most importantly. 24 hours before we needed we asked the hotel to book a taxi for us to the airport at 04:00. At 0400 they told us that in 5 minutes the taxi will arrive. Then they said that the agency has no taxis, then they tried another agency. In the end we got some hotel bus which took us 30 minutes late to the airport. The hotel didn't even have the decency to pay for the ride and we paid the driver. We literally made the flight at the last minute.
Excellent hotel and staff. Central location for all the key tourist locations and finest restaurants, cafes, and shops. Excellent train services to Florence and Parma to add to the excellent hotel reception staff services.
