I never expect a hotel to help, it I would expect them not to be greedy. I'm traveling with my elderly father that is not very mobile. We had to change our itinerary due to his handicap and contacted the hotel. They basically yelled at us and have not offered to assist only a "you paid, no refund, not change...

This hotel is charming with large rooms for European hotels. The location could not be better. Its right in the heart of the lovely and authentic Trastevere area of Rome, surrounded by great family owned restaurants and active squares. We arrived late and had no problems getting to our room and the breakfast, included in the rate was very good....

The Residenza's neighbourhood contains numerous restaurants with excellent dining al fresco or in pleasant spacious dining rooms. Small shops provide everything from gelato to handbags and the piazzas are human scale. The staff at the Residenza were very helpful in every aspect of our stay and friendly as well.

We loved this hotel, and I am very picky about hotels! I've stayed at five-star hotels I liked far less than this charming, little place. My daughter and I stayed in late March and truly enjoyed this hotel. It's an excellent price for the location, size of the room, and overall quality. We'd stay here again! Our room overlooked the...

Stayed in March 2017 for 25th anniversary and loved the hotel -- great bfast, great location (once you understand the maze of streets around the hotel) and super friendly staff. Room was very big, clean rooms and European style with a very good bed. Take Tram 8 to the center of city in 10 minutes (arrives every 4 min).

I stayed with a friend end of March for 4 nights. We had good sized room on the ground floor. The people at the reception are very friendly and helpful. Attention, the reception is only services for certain hours, but all necessary information when arriving outside of these hours was received in advance. The neighborhood is very lively with lots of...

My stay at Residenza San Calisto was simply perfect. I stayed in the independent apartment and it was amazing! The rooms are huge and clean, the kitchen is spacious and very well equipped. Giovanna and Adelina are so lovely...they made our stay really special. The best feature is the position: in the heart of Trastevere, but in a very silent...

This is a beautiful hotel! The neighborhood it's in, Trastevere, is really fun and we loved walking the streets every night! The breakfast was also outstanding. Lots of choices and they will make you a fresh cappuccino or whatever you want.

We had a fabulous experience at the Residenza San Calisto! We stayed for 6 nights and has such a great time. The hotel was beautiful, clean and in the heart of Trastevere. We were able to walk to restaurants and shops. In addition, it was walking distance from the Colosseum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Vatican City...and most of Rome's city center....

We stayed three days/nights in the cosy well-situated hotel apartment of this hotel. The street is lively and beautifully Roman, the building is grand and the accommodation very nice. As if we lived in Rome, close to major places, quaint like one likes when in Rome. We certainly recommend, only hoping that it will not be one do popular that...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Residenza San Calisto ( previously know Residenza Santa Maria), is a small exclusive Hotel de charme, located I the heart of Rome, just a stone's from the magnificent and picturesque square of Santa Maria in Trastevere. This boutique Hotel is the result of the skilful restoration of a 17th century building. The whole house is dominated by brick arches, wooden ceilings, artistic hand painted frescos and wall decorations which give to the Residenza Santa Maria an atmosphere of refined elegance. With only 6 rooms, the Residenza Santa Maria is somewhat smaller than its namesake which allows for even greater atmosphere, notwithstanding the fact that having only recently opened it is also equipped with high tech environment. The large and quite, no smoking, rooms, some of which family rooms, are fully equipped with private bathroom with tub and shower, A/C, telephone, mini-bar, safe, satellite flat panel TVs, free internet connection, boiler for tea/coffee and other amenities. In the breakfast room, once a Roman cistern of the II cen. BC, decorated by original ancient Roman artifacts found on site during restoration of the building, guests can enjoy a rich and delicious buffet breakfast, (scramble or boiled eggs, ham, cheese, salami, fresh bread, assortment of biscuits, cakes, fresh fruits, yogurt, fresh croissants, selection of fruit juices etc.). Thanks to great location, from the Residenza Santa Maria, guests can easily reach the main tourist sites like Campo de' Fiori, Navona Square, the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi's fountain, the Roman Forum and Coliseum with just a relaxing stroll through a maze of fascinating medieval streets. The Vatican Museum/Sistine Chapel and St Peter's Square are a few minutes away. Furthermore Trastevere, apart from the beauty of its mediaeval narrow little streets, is filled with typical restaurants, markets, pubs and cafes. The Residenza Santa Maria also offers services like transfer to and from the airport, private guided tours, laundry service, shiatsu massage, beauty centre, baby sitting service and car and scooter hire, as well as offering free use of bikes to its personal guests. ... more   less
