Welcome to the Relais Trevi Fountain RomeWelcome to the Relais Trevi Fountain in the historical centre of Rome, the ideal accommodation for an unforgettable romantic break in one of the world’s oldest and most spellbinding cities. Our luxury rooms & suites in the historical centre of Rome has undergone recent refurbishment to make it an immaculate yet personable accommodation in which you can set your mind at ease and make the most out of the cityThe Trevi FountainOne of Rome’s most popular landmarks and probably the most famous fountain in the world, the stunning Fontana di Trevi was immortalised in the 1960 classic Fellini film La Dolce Vita, starring Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg - who famously frolics in the fountain on a balmy Roman night. Needless to say, frolicking in the fountain today will probably land you with a hefty fine to pay, but if you can resist diving in, this beautiful Renaissance masterpiece is generally regarded as one of Rome’s most romantic spots. Our LocationTaking our name from the fountain, which is just a few metres away from the entrance to our luxury rooms & suites, the Relais Fontana di Trevi puts guests deep in the cobble-stoned heart of renaissance Rome, with other landmarks such as the Spanish Steps and Piazza Barberini within easy walking distance.

This is basically a 3-star hotel. We had a family room and paid under £940 for 4 nights with breakfast included. The family room had a corridor and two rooms and one shower room. Rooms look tired and could do with a fresh look. The rooms were located away from the fountain so you don't hear any noise when you get back. One room had twin beds and the other had a double. The only thing that I found odd was the safe that was in the cupboard, this was not even bolted down!

Breakfast is standard however service at breakfast time was good and the staff were always attentive. The view from the balcony where we had breakfast had the view of the Trevi Fountain, this is the highlight of the hotel! If you get there early (7.20 am), you likely to have a table near the front. There are only 3 tables where you can see the view so get there early!

The location is fantastic, if you want to travel on foot, this is one of the hotels. You walk out of the hotel and there are many places to eat and plenty of gelato places. But walk another 20 mins to Trastevere and you will find lots of lovely restaurants to eat. Colosseum is 20 mins and the Vatican City around 40 mins walk.

The reception was fantastic and very helpful. So overall perfect for a city holiday.

Loved this hotel. Had been to the bar before and decided to stay at the hotel this time based on how wonderful the bar was. We did not regret it. Hotel equally lovely. Rooms great for arch a central location and we could have the windows open and listen to the noise of the fountain all night. The breakfast on the roof terrace was wonderful, definitely share both the continental and international. Ilaria that runs the roof terrace bar was fantastic, so helpful. We had dinner and drinks there and the food was really tasty with lots of special thought put in to it. Only hotel for us in Rome now.

With possibly the most amazing views of the Trevi fountain, the Relais Fontana di Trevi is a wonderful overnight spot in Rome, however it comes at a price. While the hotel itself is not unreasonably priced, its rooftop restaurant is way above Italian, even Roman average. Nonetheless those views might just be worth it for one night but beware of its very central location as it can get very noisy especially on weekend evenings. Some rooms have very small windows and they open into back alleys, so the air might get a bit stuffy. On the flip side, all rooms have coffee making facilities, a definite plus.

If you’re looking for disappointment and regret, then this is you’re place. I’m a HUGE “review” person and let me tell you, the skewed reviews for this hotel tricked my wife and I so I’m trying to do you a favor.

Where do I begin?

1. The condition of cleanliness is comparable to a Motel 6. They DON’T clean their rooms. We upgraded our room to their Junior Suite and we saw food crumbs below the pillows on the sofa, mold/ dirt stains on the walls, a hair on the bed (not our own), sweat stains on the lamp shades, etc.

2. No hot water showers. Half the time it cuts in and out and one night it just never came back on during my shower. It felt like I was taking an ice shower, and trust me… it was not pleasant. Felt like I was back at the jenky Frat house.

3. Staff will provide info if you ask, but by no means are they friendly. They don’t make you feel welcome or a like a guest.

4. The Rooftop bar is not exclusive to guests and they actively try to fill it with people off the streets. Don’t be fooled by their “trendy rooftop bar with a view” because only 2 tables have actual fees of the Trevi and you’ll probably rarely get them since they’re prospecting off the street.

5. Same as 1, but housekeeping does NOT clean. They came during our super quick breakfast - we ate in about 15 min and came back to a “cleaned” room. They folded a couple towels, put on one new sheet and that was it. They didn’t even replace the toilet paper roll which was essentially all used up.

6. You literally only get one sheet for the bed. No blanket or comforter - and we got the upgraded Junior Suite, once again.

To put it into perspective of how bad our experience was, we literally threw away about $500 and decided to rebook elsewhere and spend another $300 (and no, we’re not ‘rolling in the dough’, it was just THAT bad). We couldn’t imagine ending our unforgettable trip to Italy with this experience. Luckily the hotel we booked / moved to saved our trip and our stay at Rome.

Very good rooftop lounge of the hotel which is a gr8 spot to take in the spectacular sunsets in relative peace and quiet(bar the music) feeling superior to the mayhem of the crowds milling around the fountain. Pampered ourselves with excellent wine and if you can arrive about 5pm seems a good time to get a table as it filled up very quickly. "A hidden gem"

We went to the rooftop bar and restaurant last night for dinner and drinks. Unfortunately while the venue and the drinks are quite good, the food was overpriced and of very poor quality.

The chicken salad I ordered for €16 was tiny and the chicken was so hard that it was physically impossible to cut with a knife. I had to physically tap the fillet on the side of the plate to show the waiter. My wife was also served a spaghetti carbonara that was barely warm.

We were also given bruschetta which was clearly stale sliced bread with a drizzle of olive oil over it.

We ended up leaving and going somewhere else to eat, €38 lighter in the wallet.

Come here for drinks but don't eat here.

I would not recommend this restaurant at all, loads better to go too, don’t waste your time or money. myself and a friend went past the bottom of the restaurant labeled ‘roof top Trevi’ several times being promised a seat with a ‘perfect view’ every time. We decided to go on our third evening so booked a table and we’re told it would be one with a view (you are paying for the view not the food). On arrival the front of house was rude and not appropriate, once taken upstairs the ‘view’ we were offered was a brick wall, no view. We asked to move to the only two seats with a moderate view and they said yes, we waited and once tables became free we were still denied the view (although the view was not that good). When the waiter came again he was very patronising and treated us very poorly. We were made to pay €6 which we did not drink which we ordered for the wait. The overall service was very bad. The menu was very overpriced, when looking at others food it did not look good, other restaurants we have been too have much better quality food and much kinder service. Don’t waste your time, countless nicer restaurants to go too in the same area.

So where do I begin?
The hotel Location is great, right next to the Trevi Fontain, and it makes it very easy to get around the city.
But apart that; the worst hotel I have stayed at.

The bathroom walls are covered in fungus, second, the room has a strange lavender odour, the beds hard as rock, pillows: thin and hard too, the bed was broken, the air conditioning was fair.
The rooms are too loud at night also, every person passing your room, will wake you up if they simply lead a conversation.

In the hotel there are way too many steps. Not suitable for invalids.

They serve a fair breakfast but on a balcony that they like to call a terrace which in any case it isn’t.
It barely fits few tables and only the first 3 have a fountain view.

Also, the hotel Service is beyond horrible, so upon my arrival I payed for the stay including breakfast and the others receptionist tried to charge it to me again, when I insisted I already payed - she called me cheap, also, she basically told me: leave! You may now leave- I see cheap people like you every day, she told , also she simply called me - insane. If this is hospitality and service, than I have no idea about the previous mentioned two things. I am in awe about what I have experienced there.

Fabulous hotel in amazing location. Family of three. Seen the other reviews and the roof top bar terrace is neat and expensive but it’s the only place where you can have a great view of the Trevi fountain. If you are a guest at the hotel then this is where you have breakfast. The rooms are large and although the bathrooms need some tlc, the beds were comfy and room was pristinely clean. We arrived to a lovely bottle of Prosecco also. We had a street facing room, which was also underneath the bar, room 205. I got woken up a few times, however, my son and husband did not; and I slept fine the last two nights of our 4 day trip. You are in a busy area but also next to everything so you can’t have everything perfect. When back at the room we would open the windows and you get the full atmosphere of this busy area and we liked that. There are quieter rooms available. Be carful with cash tips at restaurants on the streets in the area, this seems to be an issue in Rome. This won’t be an issue in recommended restaurants. The streets surrounding the hotel are full of shops, ice cream, and restaurants and you can easily walk to all key spots from this hotel. There is a lift in the hotel but it doesn’t stop on all floors, there are steps but the staff are great and there to help. The staff were really friendly, Romina who runs breakfast is a credit to the hotel. Although the bar is expensive, it has a great atmosphere at night. Breakfast is good also. Not sure if I would recommend this hotel with a younger family. Our son is 13 and loved it. We chose this hotel as it wasn’t modern and is very authentic and we loved that, however, it would benefit from some tlc and maybe more sound proofing on rooms close to the bar but I am a light sleeper! Some of the guests we met had stayed at the hotel before. If we go back to Rome, I couldn’t see us staying anywhere else! Bakery and the Romeo ice cream shop on the ground floor are great. Avoid the restaurant to the right of the entrance they took mandatory 20% tip that must be in cash! Don’t take unnecessary taxis. We were told €15 they were all €27/35 anywhere. We even walked to the Vatican from the hotel via the Pantheon and piazza novona, amazing walk! Avoid the Vatican Museum tour, it’s take a two hours slow snail walk to get to the Sistine chapel which was mobbed! Guided tours are expensive but worth it as Rome was very busy in October and you avoid all the queues when you are with a guide!

!BEWARE! IlView of the fountain for a drink is awesome. That’s where it ends.

Staff shocking, after paying €200 to reserve a good seat they had no booking made us wait 30 minutes and also made us show emails to “prove” we had reserved 👀

Food was pretty uneatable to be honest drinks where below average

It was so bad we didn’t even use all our €200 we left early with question as to why we hadn’t ate our food or drank all our wine.

I had a “pizza” what was stone baked bread some ham and balsamic dressing with no tomato or cheese to seen. The lasagna was so small we burst out laughing.

Asked for garlic bread which the waiter said was fine, we got warm floppy white bread sliced like I’d get at my granny’s with soup.

All in all I’d rate this place 0 stars if i could

Instagram strikes again with making stuff look like what’s it’s not !

I don’t do this lightly as I never review but I felt robbed tonight!
