Mixed!! Ok first of all if you are on a budget book this hotel, the value for money is unquestionable for Rome. I was supposed to stay at yellow hostel around the corner but had booked the wrong dates this was a lifesaver as all the hostels were full. I paid 50 euro a night with breakfast it was for nothing.
Bed is very comfy. As per other reviews the staff are seriously strange and argumentative, not to me but on check in they were having a full on shouting match with a guest which i couldnt understand due to language which is a shame as im so curious!!! GREAT location i feel. 3* how can you complain. One bad thing for me though was the water in shower/sinks was sometimes brown... this did not fill me with confidence to shower or brush teeth. But it kinda cleared up by day 2.
All in all i was quoted 200 a night for a hotel nearby and was really stuck and this place saved me. Coffee is awful for italy.

Room Tip: Ask for a low floor as the lift is old slow small and unreliable.

Good Basic Hotel within 10 mins walk of Termini station.
3 of us shared a room which where 2 singles an a sofa bed.
Air con included and good room size good and bathroom clean.
Decor dated but added charm.
If your breakfast is included then fill your boots it's a good hot and cold selection if it's not I would not say it was worth the €10 euros each unless you really pigged out.
The staff where helpful if you treated them with respect.
For a short break it was more than ok as we didn't spend much time in the room as we where there to site see.

A mixed bag. Location is easily walkable to Termini station and Castro Pretorio which means public transport was very easy. However the location is noisy. The double bed is two singles with a sheet over them, so they do slide apart throughout the night. The shower is small but adequate. The room could use some modernization but overall pretty average for the budget.

Staff poorly speaks English except one lady at the reception which I met only once unfortunately. A gentleman (probably from South Africa) working at the reception was with a very bad attitude, it was hard to ask about anything. Accidentally I missed the flight and had to came back around 11pm to the same hotel just to check-in for one more night until other early morning flight, as there was no time to search another apartment too, the same staff told me the price for the room is 100 Euro which is funny and on booking.com was less at the same moment, also he didn't allow to use a wi-fi in the lobby as I wasn't already a guest and checked out earlier. He was trying to get me out from the lobby once I asked why there was a price difference and said that its "HIS" price. Unbelievable poor service, unprofessional behavior and the worst experience.

When we arrived at 7 pm, tired from our overseas trip, the unfriendly desk clerk told us they were "overbooked" and had to send us to another hotel for 2 nights - which was 7.5 miles away! We had booked an early train for Pompeii the next morning at the nearby train station, which was now NOT walkable. We couldn't walk to any of the other sights we'd planned to walk to near the hotel. The place they sent us to was a gigantic, faceless convention center a half-hour walk from any restaurants, no breakfast included, and had no hot water that day. We ended up spending a bunch of extra money on taxis and lost a lot of time with logistics being more complicated. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Hotel San Marco had overbooked and sent myself and others to a hotel a 30 minute taxi outside of the city center. They did not tell me in advance and gave me no other option when I arrived. I watched as this happened to many others too. I felt bad for the man working the front desk, as the manager was rude. I had planned to stay here another night but rebooked elsewhere. AVOID THIS HOTEL!

The hotel has a certain charm as soon as you walk in. There is no glitz or glamour, just a certain well established feel about the woodwork and decor. Reception were always great, handled things effectively with no fuss. Rooms are basic, but it is a 3 star so don’t expect any more. My bathroom had certainly had a re-fit in the last few years so that was great. Breakfast is a simple buffet, focussed on coffee, croissants, pastries and cold meat / cheese. What’s not to like. Great price for its location.

This hotel is so outdated. The shower doesn’t drain, it’s also covered in black mould. They’re only busy because they probably give big discounts to tour companies. This hotel is also very far from the city center, unless you’re ok with taking the metro. It’s better to book a city center hotel way in advance and have it cost only $50 more than stay here. The breakfast is also very bad.

Met my roommate for the tour when I checked in. The room was laughably small...the bathroom was nearly the same size!

Regardless, it is central, safe with a lovely breakfast. Although we were directly over a restaurant, it was quiet with earplugs to sleep. If you aren't going to Rome to stay in your room, it is perfect! And let's hope you are not planning on spending your Rome time in your room!

3 stars close to Termini. The reception staff were helpful but for some reason there is a restriction on the use of the lift. The ensuite was a good size, breakfast was fine and the WiFi reliable. Most of the hotel looked as though it s was ready for an upgrade

Is it safe to walk to & from Termini?
Answer from Michael & Jenny F
Adelaide, Australia89 contributions54 helpful votes
The Termini is only about a 10 minute walk from the Hotel. The streets are reasonably busy and there are lots of hotels in the area. We felt absolutely safe and had no problems - day or night - with our safety when walking in this area.
